EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Imperative Technology (Pvt) Ltd was formed in December 2007 with the main
objective of providing the best in service and support for the valued customers in
the area of information technology. Imperative Technology was also formed to be
the benchmark leader in importing and distributing computers, networking
equipment, computer hardware, P.C repairs and maintenance, computer
software, antivirus, data recovery software and equipment, computer
consumables, computer accessories.

The company was also formed to design and implement the following
 Websites and web-based applications
 All types of Networks
 Software and systems

Some of the companies that we have supplied are Aviation Ground Services,
Kwekwe Polytechnic, PM Manufacturing, Mvuramanzi Trust, John Cowie Primary
School and ISB Securities.
The company have contracts to repair and service computers, printers at Makoni
Rural District Council, FACT – Rusape and Rusape Town Council. The company
also supplied antivirus kits to Mvuramanzi Trust, Aviation Ground Services, PM
Manufacturing and ISB Securities

Imperative Technology have however diversified into computer assembly and

working on twinning operation with HP Compaq, Mecer, IBM, Dell, Sahara,
Sansui among others so that we just import unfinished products rather than
finished products which would be very expensive.
The company is a partner of Microsoft, Eset Southern Africa, Norton, Avast,
Kaspersky, Sahara, Pastel, HP, IBM, Dell , McAfee, BitDefender, Acer, ASUS
through Microman, Blue Voda, IP Guard and AVG, this means that it is an
authorized reseller and import or buy their products at low prices meaning
reduced prices locally when distributing.

Imperative Technology has since acquired and trained staff to do their software
development and website development as the company has realized the
potential of creating employment in these sectors.

There is also a big demand for ICT solutions in Zimbabwe as technology is

continuously changing. This means several companies will happen to be our
clients for ICT solutions for a long time.
Business has been brisk but is sometimes hampered by inadequate working
capital as the company is still an infant in this industry and is still growing.
The company therefore needs financing from time to time to enable it to fulfill
certain orders. The company will then cede the whole transaction to the bank,
which will first deduct its dues before passing on the balance to the company.
This will enable a higher throughput, which will result in higher turnover and
therefore increased profitability for the business.

OVERVIEW OF THE COUNTRY BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

The introduction of a series of economic reform programmes in the period 1991

to 1995 ushered in a lot of changes in the economy. The introduction of
Economic Structural Adjustment Programme (ESAP), the relaxation of exchange
controls and many other policy changes brought about a lot of competition in the
market from both the local and foreign competitors. The ESAP years saw an
injection of dynamism in the Small and Medium – Scale Enterprises (SME’s).
High on the Government agenda was the indigenization of the economy, which
entailed economic empowerment of the nationals.

The growth of the Zimbabwean economy and the creation of employment

opportunities depend on the creation of vibrant SME sector. This is the case
throughout the world, because SMEs need less capital to set up and a lower
amount is required, for each new job created unlike corporate which require a
large amount, proportionately, to create a single job. This is the avenue of growth
that is available to Zimbabwe. As expected, a number of them are doing well.
Although quite a number have succumbed to the harsh economic environment, a
good deal has managed to grow opening employment opportunities and
contributing to GDP growth.

The prevailing economic environment over the last few years has however
reversed the gains that had been made in the ESAP years. Unstable macro-
economic environments as evidenced by high inflation, high interest rates, acute
shortage of foreign currency, a depreciating currency and loss of business
confidence characterize the current economic climate. As a result of the
economic hardships, a number of retrenchments have occurred in the
commercial and manufacturing sectors and formal employment levels have gone
down. However these have substituted by a lot of informal sector activities that
are taking place in city centers and residential areas.

The government is making a lot of effort to restore economic activity and is very
supportive of the indigenous participation in the economy of the country. The
general consensus among economic commentators is that the slowdown in
economic activity is only a temporary phase and that sooner or later this will
change for the better. It is with this conviction in mind that the situation will
improve that this business plan has been made. The aim is to establish the
business on a firm footing now so that it can take full advantage of the upturn
when it occurs.

BACKGROUND

The company’s main business has been based on the following.

 Importation and distribution of computers, networking equipment,
computer hardware, computer software, antivirus, data recovery software
and equipment, computer consumables and computer accessories

The harsh economic conditions in the country characterized by foreign currency

shortage have begun to negatively affect this line of business. As a result the

assembly, and local development of software solutions. There are quite a
number of seasoned players in this field who include Creative Computers,

COMPUTER ASSEMBLY PLANT

Imperative Technology (Pvt) Ltd’s computer assembly project plant will start in
the second half of 2009. The plant will involve the assembly of computers locally
after twinning with international companies. This is destined to become the
flagship of the business when fully operational. A study has been conducted to
ascertain the availability of the hardware to be used in the assembly plant and it
has been established that most of the hardware are available in abundance. The
plant is also going to employ many unemployed youths thereby solving the
unemployment problem. There is also a possibility that some of the
products/software assembled and designed respectively will find their way to the
export markets and the company will then be able to earn the much needed
foreign currency which can be used to finance further expansion.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

The present strategy of offering fast and efficient service as well as timely
delivery of customer orders as key competitive features will continue to be used.
The need to charge a fair price and offer high quality service cannot be over-
emphasized. The company always makes sure that customers are kept aware of
the status of their orders. This helps in keeping rapport with the customers, as
well as trust, which leads to repeat orders.

COMPETITION

In the information technology sector there are quite a number of purchasing

agents. Most of these like Imperative Technology have been established so that
they go between the end users (customers) and the big companies. When
customers are maintained for quite some time through use of good service, there
is no danger of loosing them. The idea is therefore to continually improve quality
of service in order to keep present customers happy while scouting for new
prospects at the same time. Because the prices are continuously going up, the
system of buying and selling becomes uncompetitive and therefore the solution is
to go for computer and hardware assembly, which will therefore be able to solve
the problem of stability in prices and increase sales.

The management of the company is done through a board of directors consisting
