Deltacom
Tasked with completing work orders, trouble tickets, and maintenance tickets qui
ckly and efficiently within MTTR. Responsibilities included locating cable (both
fiber and copper) using various locating devices, maintaining POP sites and equ
ipment, and interfacing with construction crews and contractors to ensure securi
ty of underground facilities. Maintained working knowledge of customer base, fib
er routes and ring configurations; performed software upgrades on Alcatel DLC ri
ngs in Metro area. Responded to trouble calls at any hour, being available for o
n-call rotation, and provided innovative solutions to new and seldom encountered

Fiber Optic Technician II
BTI: Responsible for fiber optic cable and transport systems in the Raleigh-Durh
am metro area, including test and turn-up, project management (i.e. RBC Center:
responsible for the test and turn up of Litespan 2012 5 node ring, including ins
tallation of 60 payphones thru out the arena), and provisioning of systems such
as Nortel; OC12 Classic, OC48 Classic, Optera Metro 3500, 5200, DMT300 Muxes; Al
catel Litespan 2012; Positron Mist Muxes and Sonet equipment; ADC Fiber Muxes, e
tc. Solely responsible for trouble shooting Litespan issues and software upgrade
s for assigned area and several neighboring areas. Able to install, turn up, and
test communications circuits from DS0 on up to OC192 systems. Conversant with v
arious types of test equipment including several brands of OTDR's, (Expo, Digita
l Lightwave, GN NetTest, etc.) T1 and T3 test boxes (T-Bird 950, 310, and 2310,
etc.); Light meters and sources, volt/ohm meters. Proficient with various hand t
ools and test equipment necessary for troubleshooting and installation.
Prior Employment: Prior to 1998, employment at Globe Communications, Tech Dataco
m Systems, and various other electrical and telephone contractors in assorted te
chnical and supervisory positions provided valuable experience such as:
Assignment and support of crews necessary to complete ongoing and future project

heduling, accurate records maintenance (warranty documentation, test documentati
on, etc.), customer support, etc.
Responsible for adds, moves, and changes on various key systems and PBX's includ

Installation, termination, and testing of all types of cable, including voice, d
ata and coax, both inside and outside plant.
Managed equipment room layout, station layout, and crew operations.
Installation of secondary switchgear, HVAC controls, fire alarms, and intercom s
