The Whitney Museum of American Art presents the full range of 20th-century and c
ontemporary American art, with a special focus on works by living artists. With
125 employees and a budget of $10 million the museum is dedicated to collecting,
preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting arguably the finest holding of twentie
th-century American art in the world. Reporting to the Controller was responsibl
e for special projects, account analysis and review and formalization of Control
s and Procedures.
Reviewed, strengthened and compiled formal controls and procedures for the dif
ferent accounting, development, admissions and gift shop functions increasing ef
ficiency and reducing errors and expense.
Performed special account analysis projects.
Helped management plan and execute computerization of purchasing and accounts p

08/08 - 09/09 The Riverside Church New York NY
Interim Controller (Contract)
An organization with over 150 employees and a $19 million annual budget covering
a plethora of religious and social programs, a pre-school, a gift shop, a theat
er, and rental space for life cycle occasions. Reporting to the Director of Fin
ance managed an eight person department responsible for all accounting of progra
ms, payroll, billing, collections, payables, banking etc. Coordinate yearend au
dit and preparation of annual financial statements and updating of notes to fina
ncials.
Reviewed, strengthened implemented new systems, controls and procedures increas
ing efficiency and reducing errors and expense.
Completed implementation of new computer accounting system, refining account st
ructure, access tables and reports increasing accuracy of data and reducing redu
ndancy.
Reorganized staff responsibilities and data flow facilitating monthly closings
and financial reporting.

ities and commingled for the collective investment and reinvestment. Reporting
directly to the President was member of executive staff and responsible for the
day to day management of the five member staff of the department and of the fina
ncial activities of the organization. Coordinated yearend audits and presented r
elevant reports to board and committees.
Implemented new computer accounting system, redefining system setup matrix, acc
ount structure and reports increasing system functionality rectifying original d
esign errors.
