Pollution on
Our Planet
Introduction

What is Pollution? Pollution is like oil spills, toxic waste, smog,

and wastewater .How does pollution affect us? Pollution affects out air
and oceans, making essential things start to decline .Is pollution a big
deal? Pollution is a big deal, because it affects not only your health and
well being, but the whole worlds’ too. Pollution is a problem.

How does ocean pollution affect our diets? The more sea life that
dies with ocean pollution is the more that declines for our seafood diet.
Why is air pollution bad for us all? Air pollution can cause us to get
sick, and damage our lungs. Why is pollution disrupting the natural
order? It makes things not as they are and only creates trouble.
Pollution is bad, and pollution is killing our planet.

Key Findings

Firstly, ocean pollution affects us all. Buzzle.com saids that,”

statistics reveal that approximately 80 percent of ocean pollution is
land based, or human induced to be precise.” The fish population is
already decreasing drastically (buzzle.com). “Every year, one American
produces over 3,285 pounds of hazardous waste (dosomething.org).”
That hazardous waste will most likely end up in the ocean! Did you
know that,” 40% of America’s rivers and 46% of America’s lakes are
too polluted for fishing, swimming, or aquatic life (dosomething.org)?!
If oceans, lakes, and rivers are even more contaminated; what will we
do?

Secondly, air pollution makes all of us very unhealthy.

“Hazardous air pollutants are emitted with the various numbers of
activities that we carry out during the day,”- buzzle.com. Activities like
driving are a main factor of air pollution. Many things contribute to air
pollution. “Vehicle exhaust contributes roughly 60% of all carbon
monoxide emissions nationwide, and up to 95% in cities
(dosomething.org).” Cars are responsible for some air pollution
because of smog, but people sometimes choose to ignore their car’s
faults. Air pollution is not just a problem in the US but all around the
world.

Finally, pollution disrupts the natural order. Pollution disrupts

food chains (library.thinkquest.org). Pollution causes major disrupts on
out planet. Pollution destroys cities! “According to the report four of
the most polluted US cities are located in California, with Bakersfield
being described as the dirtiest city in the U.S. (citymayors.com).” Los
Angeles comes in second! We in the second most partically polluted
city in the United States cities!

Interpretation of Results

With polluted drinking water around the world, people end up

suffering, and getting water- based diseases! People die because of
ocean pollution! Also, not just people are harmed, but animals too! We
will loose a main source of food, and nutrition, to ocean pollution. We
humans need to start acting more humane, and take care of out
planet! We need to be more careful in how we handle our garbage and
sewage! We have to stop being wasteful, unclean, and start being
more aware of ocean pollution.

We can do many things to prevent air pollution! Yet most people

don’t make any effort to even try to make a difference. Barely anybody
gives their compliance to really make a difference. We can carpool,
stop smoking, and walk more than ride! Solar powered cars would not
burn gasoline, so if we used those, we would have one more solution!
There are a wide variety of things you can do! You can even insulate
your house!

Is this the kind of world we want to live in? The own city we live
our lives in, is polluted. Pollution disrupts our daily lives, and we
shouldn’t suffer through that! We should be able to live in a sanitary
environment! Littering in the ocean kills fish and other sea organisms.
This issue cannot dissipate of the face of the planet! To know our own
city is unhealthy makes it harder for people to live here, especially
when 3 other cities in the state are the most polluted!
