PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
HERAEUS METALS TECHNOLOGY, Chandler, AZ 2007-2009
Process Engineer
Responsible for all manufacturing processes and systems, and provide detailed ov
ersight for the entire product and project cycle. Develop systems to monitored
and test for efficiency and accuracy in the production process. Maintain and en
hance levels of cost effective utilization of materials, resources within produc
t design to optimize manufacturing results.
* Designed engineering and manufacturing integration tool which converts technic
al engineering specification parameters into manufacturing system data. This
reduces programming and setup time by 80%
* Developed new technical application within the manufacturing heat treatment pr
ocess of metals. This resulted in an increase of the Pass through Flux (PTF) an
d subsequently increased throughput of sputtering targets by up to 150%.
* The PTF process was a major industry breakthrough for data storage while incre
asing manufacturing market share by 80%
Project Engineering Manager 2005-2007
Project oversight for a team of four (4) engineers primarily tasked with R & D a
nd the outsourced manufacturing in various locations worldwide. Review technical
specifications and monitor off site project activity to achieve on time deliver
y of products externally manufactured for client base.
* Communicates with clients on plan design and technical information with vendor
s and the customer
* Developed the Soft Magnetic Underlayer (SUL) for rotatable sputtering targets.
Working with the customer, Western Digital Media, and tool manufacturer it was
the first of its kind in the data storage industry. It decreased production pa
rt replacements by 90%
* Designed, tested, and introduced to a global market the new innovative specifi
cations and orientations of SUL rotatable targets. This led all industries for
a period of 10 years.
* Managed the transfer of Heraeus Kultzer Dental Alloy manufacturing operation f
rom New York to Arizona. It included the modernization of equipment and overhau
l of the dental alloy manufacturing process with a first year savings of $12 mil
lion dollars and increase of revenue by 28%.

HERAEUS METALS TECHNOLOGY, Chandler, AZ
1997-2005
Developmental Engineer R&D
As part of a team, responsible for product design, testing and prototype concept
s for worldwide customer based in the development and use of metals and alloys.
Develop statistical data for manufacturing after completion of testing and fail
ure analysis.
Redesign and modified current manufacturing technology for annealing process in
the production of dental alloys.
Created the manufacturing integration tool which allows the manufacturing proce
ss to take R & D prototypes and calibrate the product for manufacturing and prod
uction. This process speeds up the concept to production cycle by 75%
Developed methods for a statistical data analysis of product manufacturing that
improved process and quality control by 20%. It also reduced the loss of prec
ious metals and materials by 15%.
Thermomechanical Process Technician 1995-1997
Primarily responsible for hot and cold rolling, heat treating and annealing of m
etals and pilot alloys used in the manufacturing, and the research and developme
nt departments. Prepare materials for use in the production and manufacturing of
component parts for data storage units. Provide experimental analysis and docu
mentation of heat treatment effects on various metals and alloys used in the man
ufacturing process. Primary focus on thermal stress analysis and the practical
applications of product development for metals and pilot alloys.
Managed and facilitated Lean Manufacturing (LM) policies and techniques through
out plant build process
Monitored all SPC data, reviewed and corrected all manufacturing and production
processes
Initiated Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) that reduced scrap by 23% the fi
rst year and 24% annually thereafter.

Engineering Highlights
Engineering Patents listed below:
o Casting of High Purity NiPt; Patent 20090028744
Abstract: A method of making a NiPt alloy having an ultra-high purity of at leas
t 4N5 and suitable for use as a sputtering target. The resultant NiPt alloy has
a very low concentration of impurity and is subjected to cross-directional rolli
ng for reduced thickness and grain size.
o Directional Solidification of Soft Magnetic Underlayer (SUL) Alloys; Patent 20
070169853
Abstract: The sputter target may be formed by directional solidification at near
-equilibrium temperature conditions by withdrawing the metal alloy at a first ra
te through a temperature gradient. The sputter target is for forming one or more
magnetic layers on a substrate.
o Six Sigma Training in the area of Lean Manufacturing completed at the Hanau, G
ermany plant
