The Cebu Visitors & Convention Bureau has made Cebu City

We are the Global Filipinos.
We are among over 8 million dispersed
across the globe in the Filipino
Diaspora.
They call us Modern Day Heroes. Our
relatives and loved ones depend on us.
The Philippine economy rests on our
shoulders. Abroad, we reflect the image of our native country
and our people - for good or ill.
Our lives have been a mixture of pain and joy, poverty and good
fortune, discrimination and admiration, failures and triumphs.
In the process we have begun to make our mark in the world.
But many crises and challenges continue to confront us - all of
which can be more easily surmounted if we stand together,
strive together, and pursue com-
mon goals together. If we har-
ness Pinoy Power. Worldwide.
By harnessing Pinoy Power, we
will also be better able to help our
Motherland.
It is not enough to send money
home. We need to share the ex-
pertise, work ethic and entrepre-
neurial spirit that have enabled us
to survive and prosper abroad. In return, the Philippines offers
to us, her children, the wealth of resources and the opportuni-
ties that are our rightful heritage.
But first, we must get to know each other as Global Filipinos.
So that we can draw from each other’s strengths. And com-
pensate for each other’s weaknesses. So that we can har-
ness Pinoy Power Worldwide.
This is the rationale for the 3rd Global Filipino Networking
Convention.
On August 31-September 1, 2002, some 4,000 Filipino-Americans,
representing various business, pro-
fessional, social, political and reli-
gious groups and organizations, con-
vened at the Moscone Center in San
Francisco, California for the biggest
ever gathering of Filipinos in America
- the 1st Global Filipino Networking
Convention.
Organized as a companion event of
the 5th National Empowerment Con-
ference of the National Federation of
Filipino American Associations
(NaFFAA), the 1st Global was a “con-
vention of conventions,” with partici-
pating organizations holding their an-
nual and national meetings, semi-
nars and reunions and then coming
together and networking in the ple-
nary sessions, receptions and fes-
tivities.
The 1st Global generated such synergy that the Philippine Depart-
ment of Tourism offered to host the 2nd Global at the Philippine
International Convention Center in Manila on December 15-18, 2003.
This time, there were delegates from countries other than the United
States and the Philippines.
The 3rd Global has an even more ambitious goal: To truly become
a Gathering of Global Filipinos. By reaching out to our kababayan
in Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Austra-
lia. By bringing to the table their concerns, issues, experiences and
expertise. And by forging a consensus on dreams and goals ben-
eficial to all of us and to the Motherland.
On January 20-22, 2005, join the 3rd Global Filipino Networking
Convention. Come to a Gathering of Heroes. Together, let us har-
ness Pinoy Power Worldwide.
