Using Heat Smart II you can:

• Input a domestic water flow based on manual, Laundry, Hunter or AERCO methodology
• Evaluate whether you require an A+ or a B+II WaterWizard heater
• Select the appropriate model (with or without optimization of heater selection)
• Compare efficiency performance vs. the non-subcooling competition
• Allow you to reduce condensate temperature
• Save and print all your results

Remember to follow the instructions in Critical Info carefully to ensure that the program selection
is right for the application.

Design Criteria
The design criteria used in this software are separate from the manual design information
published in the AERCO Engineering Catalog. Heat Smart II integrates all required calculations
to properly size an application based on AERCO design practices. It may adjust your input
parameters in order to recommend the most efficient and lowest cost unit for your application.

Program File Structure

Projects/cases/options - Heat Smart II contains an internal database in which your results are
saved. The “Project” is the master identifier of any analysis. The first screen allows you to enter a
project name, description and units as well as customer contact and AERCO representative
information. Within each project there are multiple cases, each with its own name and description.

The Case Input screen allows you to input your parameters. Be sure to save the project (File,
Project Save) once a case is created and to save regularly as cases are added or expanded.

Within a case, you may have up to 99 options. An option is an iterative result based on the
addition of a backup, reduction of condensate temperature or changes to the input parameters.

Getting Started
To select and size a heater, click File, New Project from the pull menu. A New Project screen will
appear. Fill in all the information, including whether you prefer English or Metric units and click OK.
You will be taken to the A+/B+ Case Input screen. Enter your conditions; default temperatures may be
changed when you first create a case. Then click Verify Inputs. If any input is not valid, an error
message will appear. If all inputs are valid, the Results screen will automatically appear. You may
then add a backup or return to the Input screen (by clicking OK) and fine-tune your parameters.
