Experience/Responsibilities
December 2008 to Current Winnebago County Health Department Program Marketing C
ommunications Manager
Leads and directs the Weed and Seed program development process though training
and supervision of Weed and Seed volunteers/staff. I currently supervise 2 assoc
iates and 14 volunteer staff. Works within a federal grant program that requires
grant reporting. Required to write grants for community service programs. Requi
red to seek out grant funding to sustain Weed and Seed program once grant fundin
g expires. Works as an outreach person in homes, community centers, schools, chu
rches, and businesses, providing a link between residents and social services.
Implements social service programs continuously to leverage all types of resourc
es to the community. Works directly with law enforcement to weed out crime and m
ake the Rockford westside area a safer place to live. Monitors the activities, p
rogress, and outcomes of sub-committees and grantees. Organizes and runs meeting
s for the subcommittees. Give presentations and markets weed and seed program to
community members, government officials, and outside service agencies. Provide
mediation among the community and law enforcement. Works closely with Rockford H
ousing Authority. Provides numerous youth organizations opportunities to work co
mmunity service projects. Interfaces with all levels of county and city governme
nt including state senators and representatives. Works with outside agencies suc
h as United Way, Roscrance, and Crusader Clinic to provide services to the commu
nity. Provides information on community programs involved with to television and
newspaper media through interviews and press releases. Also prepares and delive
rs local newsletter to community.

Responsible for the formation and implementation of WAVE (Working Against Violen
t Environments) Agency wide trainings; recruiting, training and scheduling new v
olunteers, and for responding to medical advocacy referrals and hotline calls in
conjunction with the goals and objectives of the Illinois Health Cares Grant. R
