c Do you have what it takes to become a pilot?

Flying is a lifelong passion. Malaysia Airlines is looking for

anyone who has that vision to take to the skies and pursue a
lifelong ambition as an aviator.

As part of Malaysia Airlines' contribution towards nation

building, we recruit young and talented individuals to join our
cadet pilot training programme. Like all our pilots, the new
pilots will be among the best trained in the world and it would
be expected of them to uphold the stringent standards that have
made Malaysia Airlines one of the safest airlines in the world.

This season, applicants will undergo a thorough scientific

selection process to reveal their potential to become safe,
efficient pilots. With our human development focus, successful
candidates can also look forward to being part of Malaysia
Airlines¶ Flight Operations management team as part of a long
term career path.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
* Malaysian citizen
* Grade 1 in SPM with 6 credits including Bahasa Malaysia and a
minimum of C3 in Mathematics, Physics and English taken at one
sitting. Higher academic qualifications will be an added advantage
* For candidates sitting SPM from year 2000 onwards: 6 credits
including Bahasa Malaysia and a minimum of 3B in Mathematics,
Physics and English taken at one sitting
*

Between 18 to 26 years old.

* Fluent in English.
* Mentally and physically fit with good eyesight without optical
aids and not colour blind.
* At least 163 cm (5 ft. 4 in.) tall.
* Prepared to undergo rigorous training for up to twenty months.
* Prepared to sign a training bond.
* No criminal record.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

The process consists of six phases, namely:

* Pre screening of application
* Psychomotor skill test
* Psychometric tests
*

Interview
* Medical examination.
* Final selection

THE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Commercial Pilots Licence And µFrozen¶ Atpl

The training programme is wholly sponsored by Malaysia Airlines.

All cadet pilots will have to repay the cost of training through
monthly deductions over a period of fifteen years commencing from
the time they are employed as Second Officers. In addition, all
cadet pilots have to sign a training bond.

The training will be conducted at the Malaysian Flying Academy in

Melaka, or any other flying training colleges approved by the
Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation (MDCA). Prior to leaving,
cadet pilots will undergo an induction programme designed to
prepare them for what is expected of them throughout their
training. The programme will also offer them a brief introduction
to Malaysia Airlines.

Phase 1: This phase takes approximately 60 weeks and consists of

the following:
1. Ground school curriculum of approximately 920 hours of
classroom time, where cadet pilots will learn:

Basic aeronautical knowledge comprising of Theory of Flights,

Engines, Airframe and Systems, Electric, Ail Law, and
Radiotelephony Theory and Practical - and are required to pass
the Private Pilot Licence and the MDCA Technical Examinations.
Flight Planning, Instruments, Meteorology Theory, Meteorology
Practical, Navigation, and Radio Aids - and are required to pass
the UK Overseas Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Airline Transport
Pilots' Licence (ATPL) Examinations.

Performance A, Loading, and Human Performance and Limitation -

and are required to pass the UK Overseas Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA) Examinations.

The passing mark for all tests is 75%

2. Flight training that covers 200 aeroplane hours and 30 hours
in a flight simulator. The 200 aeroplane hours will see each
cadet flying the single-engine Piper Warrior for 165 hours of
basic flying, instrument flight and navigation training and then
the twin-engine Piper Seneca III for 35 hours of flight training.

Cadet pilots who complete this phase successfully will graduate

with a Malaysian Commercial Pilots' Licence with Instrument
Rating, and a Frozen Airline Transport Pilots' Licence. Our
stringent standards have resulted in an integrated programme that
provides cadet pilots with a solid foundation in both ground
subjects and flying.

Phase 2: In this phase, all successful cadets are first subject

to the Promotion and Selection Board, which will post cadets to
fly either F50s or B737s, depending on their performance whilst
in flying school and the availability of vacancies in the fleet.
Cadets then enter an induction programme, which includes Crew
Resource Management, to equip them with the necessary skills to
be airline pilots. At the end of this programme, the cadets will
undergo technical training (basic jet course) and aircraft type
conversion. Aircraft type conversion comprises a computer -based
training (CBT) ground course, fixed-based and full flight
simulator work, aircraft endorsement and line-flying training.
Generally, this phase takes 6 to 9 months to complete. Upon
completion of the course, the cadet will become a Second Officer.

JOBS

After training, the cadets join Malaysia Airlines as full-fledged

co-pilots holding the rank of Second Officers on either F50s or
B737s. A typical career path will see a Second Officer begin as
an F50 co-pilot, then a Boeing B737 co-pilot and becoming an
Airbus A330, Boeing B777 or B747 co-pilot before returning to the
F50 or B737 as Captain. This growth process from co-pilot to
Captain usually takes 8 years, depending on vacancy, seniority
and suitability (performance).

Pilots with suitability can also move into training captain and
managerial positions whilst flying actively. Candidates for
training captain and managerial appointments are selected from
the line captains.

A pilot's typical job scope includes pre-flight briefing and

preparation. A pilot has to examine the flight's routing, the
expected weather pattern and the amount of fuel needed for the
flight. Once airborne, he has to manage his resources (primarily
fuel), his crew (both technical and cabin) and the flight itself,
taking the aircraft safely to its destination as it flies through
different situations and environmental conditions while
constantly considering the safety and comfort of the passengers,
punctuality and economy.
Kindly submit your application together with a detailed resume,
certified true copies of certificates, academic transcripts,
identification card, recent address, contact telephone number(s)
and a recent colour passport-sized photograph (n.r.) to the
address below. Please indicate the position and position code
you are applying for on the top left corner of the envelope.

ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED

Kolej Tentera Udara

pp

>

Aerospace Studies¶.

at the end of those 3 years and go from there. This was the plan almost exactly a year ago. In a matter of 1 week, I decidedto quit school, cancel my student loans for the
next year, quit my job, pack up all my stuff and move from Wisconsin to Florida to be with him. Have I regretted for one minute my decisions? Nope, not at all. We got
married last month and I am fairly certain we probably never would have gotten married if I hadn't moved with him since we'd only been dating for a month before he left for
ASBC. However, I am 5 years older than you are, and I already had a bachelor's degree to fall back on until I can finish my second one.

As far as them going out with the guys while they're gone, in all honesty, I'm not all that thrilled about that taking place either. But the man I married isthe most loyal
person I have ever met in my entire life and I know for a fact that he would never do anything he thought would hurt me, no matter where he was or who he was with. It's
not the most pleasant thing to think about the man you love out ogling other women, but if you don't trust him to not take action, you might want to rethink your relationship.
Decent men aren't out trying to figure out what they can get away with.

Good luck.

äLife has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction.ä ~Antoine De Saint-Exupery

The main points I've received from my experiences is that if you think you will be unhappy being commited to someone who you will not see for a length of time, you WILL
be unhappy, and so will he. He will need %100 support from you. Easy to say, hard to do. My suggestion is to keep an open mind and research. You've made a big step
just posting on here. At the same time, keep a realistic view about how he feels. He is trying to do something great with hislife. If he decides to do this, you have a few
options. 1. Be a part of it and focus on the great aspects of it. Make a life of your own where your stationed. 2. Go with him and be depressed. This will drag him down as
well. It will not only effect his life, but also his work. 3. Leave him. Let him move on with his lifeand dream.

(
I'm worried that when he is gone all the guys äteam upä to go to bars and have a bunch of good looking chicks around because they know they can get away with anything.

This kind of throws up a red flag. As a few have mentioned, there is a close bond between these guys so there will definitly be some visits to the bar. If he is a good man
(and obviously he is if your with him, right?) then trusting him not to be unfaithful shouldn't be an issue. In the same breath I say that, I will also say I think it may be a
common fear in military relationships.

I beleive military relationships have to be on a completely different level of trust, respect, and determination than a äregular ä married couple. That's why I'm looking into
ANG.

Good luck on both of your decisions.

PostCount++

WOW. Do you trust your man?

Doesnt exactly sound like it.

Contrary to popular belief, some of us do have morals. I dont have to cruise for chicks and hump everything that moves, despite my natural instincts. Do I look? I dont look,
but I wont turn away either. Do I touch? Hell no. Not worth my time.

I simply live in fear of my wife! I have no doubt that straying would bring about the end of my marriage. She has told me that on several occasions and I have told her the
same. In addition, shed most likely kill me. Then she'd go to jail and I'd be dead. So where does that get me? All for a piece of a$$ that 'no one will ever know about'? Hell
no, thank you!

And let me tell you... someone will ALWAYS know. Not only that, if people dont know, they will still talk... people are people, even in the Air Force. They love gossip. My
wife is stationed in Texas and I am in Washington. So far she has had 3 people ask her how the divorce was going because they'd heard she was divorcing me. They have
also asked her how some of her male doctor friends were in the sack because they 'heard' they were sleeping together.

YGBSM if you think its only pilots that have the opportunity to shack up. My wife is more faithful than anyone I kno w. She shrugs off the idiocy of the masses because she
knows I am faithful to her.

Thats what it comes down to. Is your man faithful to YOU? Dont get me wrong, temptation is everywhere. Especially after a long day and a few drinks. Thats usually when
the British Airways stewardesses show up wanting to talk to you and have a couple more. Ive always gone home alone. Its not that difficult.

AND, by choice, I am in a military relationship since my wife is in the USAF. So we are apart for over 10 months a year. On average, I see her every other month for about
a week at a time. We still make it work. Its HARD work, but its so worth it. YOU will be in a situation where your husband wi
ll come home to you EVERY NIGHT, except
when deployed.

YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY.

Good luck. Hope I dont sound preachy, but its all true, love it or hate it.

Chuck

Don't worry, he is young. It sounds like he will likely be a PW SNAP. SNAPs don't push it up. PW SNAPs don't even go into thesquadron bar and they find a way to jink
out of most deployments.

Deployments aren't the problem for you're relationship. You will have to watch out for the man chasing female pilots in the squadron. Uh-oh!

Honestly, only the old guys are cigar smoking, skirt chasing, strip joint loving, paycheck gambling booze hounds. That means if your man is less than 40 years old you're
safe.

If your hubby wasn't a pilot when Reagan was the boss and everyone knew they were probably going down in flames within the first few minutes taking on Ivan, you don't
have to worry. The opportunity for long term survival in combat changes most people's daily mindset.

It sounds like the best job for your man would be some sort of home business that doesn't include access to the internet where harlots are lurking around trying to wreck
your happy home.

Good luck!

[edit]Royal Malaysian Air Force Regiment

The RMAF Regiment is the ground and air defence support unit of the RMAF. It is composed of the various units of the regimenttasked to fulfill the RMAF's mission and
vision. These units are:

\ ]^
  p

The special arm of the RMAF is known as PASKAU (a Malay acronym for , which loosely means 'Special Air Service'), and is part of the RMAF
Regiment. PASKAU was formed in response to a mortar attack by the then Communist Party of Malaya on a DHC-4 Caribou in the 1970s at the Kuala Lumpur Air
[9]
Base. During peacetime, the unit is tasked with responding to aircraft hijacking incidents as well as protecting Malaysia's numerous offshore RMAF airbases and civilian
airports. Its wartime roles include ground designation, sabotaging of enemy air assets and equipment and the defence of RMAF aircraft and bases. This unit is also
deployed for counter-terrorism duties as well as Urban warfare/Close quarters combat.

[edit]Missing jet engines scandal

In May 2008, two J85-GE-21 engines that power the Northrop F-5E Tiger II fighter jets belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force were reported missing, as of sometime
in 2007, from a RMAFgowdown (warehouse) in Kuala Lumpur during Najib's tenure as Defence Minister in Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's Cabinet. The jet engines belonged to
[10]
the 12th Squadron (Scorpion) based in Butterworth. The issue became a matter of political dispute, and it was reported a brigadier-general, 40 other armed forces
[11]
personnel, had been sacked over the incident. On 6 January 2010, two Malaysians, an Airman (Sergeant) and a civilian contractor, were charged in connection with the
[12]
theft and disposal of both engines.
_
[edit]
 & 2
On 5 February 2010, Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail revealed that the two missing engines had been found in Uruguay with the help of the government there and the
Malaysian government is proceeding with the necessary measures to secure their return. Investigations showed that the engines were taken out of the RMAF base on 20
[13][14]
December 2007 and 1 Jan 2008, and sent to a gowdown in Subang Jaya before being shipped out of Malaysia to South America.

he % # (Cyrillic: ɋɭɯɨɣ ɋɭ-30) (NATO reporting name 1 c) is a twin-engine, two-seat military aircraft developed by Russia's Sukhoi Aviation Corporation.
It is a multirole fighter for all- weather, air-to-air and air-to-surface deep interdiction missions.

The Su-30 started out as an internal development project in the Sukhoi Su-27 family by Sukhoi. The design plan was revamped and the name was made official by the
Russian Defense Ministry in 1996. Of the Flanker family, only the Su-27, Su-30 and Su-35 have been ordered into serial production by the Defense Ministry. All the others,
such as Su-37, were prototypes.

The Su-30 has two distinct branches, manufactured by competing organizations: KnAAPO and the IRKUT Corporation, both of which come under the Sukhoi group's
umbrella. KnAAPO manufactures the Su-30MKK and the Su-30MK2, which were designed for and sold to China, and later Indonesia and Vietnam. Due to KnAAPO's
involvement from the early stages of developing Su-35, these are basically a two-seat version of the mid-1990s Su-35. The Chinese chose an older but lighter radar so the
canards could be omitted in return for increased payload. It is a dedicated strike fighter designed for long-range air-to-surface attack missions, similar to the American F-
15E.

Irkut traditionally served the Soviet Air Defense and, in the early years of Flanker development, was given the responsibility of manufacturing the Su-27UB, the two-seat
trainer version of the Su-27. When India showed interests in the Su-30, Irkut offered the multirole Su-30MKI, which originated as the Su-27UB modified with avionics
appropriate for fighters. Along with its ground-attack capabilities, the series adds features for the air-superiority role, such as thrust-vectoring, forward canards and a long-
range phase-array radar. Its derivatives include the MKM, MKA and MKV for Malaysia, Algeria and Venezuela, respectively.

[edit]Development

`
[edit] 2
While the original Su-27 had good range, it still did not have enough for the Soviet Air Defense Forces (PVO, as opposed to VVS ± the Soviet Air Force) whose
requirements spanned the need to cover the vast expanse of the Soviet Union. Hence, development began in 1986 on the Su-27PU, an improved-capability variant of the
Su-27 capable of serving as a long-range interceptor or airborne command post. The two-seat Su-27UB combat trainer was selected as the basis for the Su-27PU,
a a
because it had the performance of a single-seat Su-27 and long-range missions require two crewmen. A proof-of-concept demonstrator flew 6 June 1987, and this
success led to the kick-off of development work on two Su-27PU prototypes. The first Su-27PU flew at Irkutsk on 31 December 1989, and the first of three pre-series
models flew in 14 April 1992.

To adapt the Su-27UB to its new role, the aircraft was fitted with a retractable in-flight refueling probe to increase range the probe is offset to the left side of the nose and,
to accommodate it, the IRSTwas offset to the right. The aircraft's avionics were changed, fitting special communications and guidance equipment to command formation
flights of single-seat Su-27 interceptors. The rear cockpit received a large CRT display which provides the formation leader with tactical information regarding targets and
interceptors. The navigation and fly-by- wire systems were also upgraded. It was fitted with an updated NIIP N001 radar, providing some ability for ground attack and to
track and engage multiple aerial targets simultaneously.

a a
Sukhoi offered the Su-27PU to be used as a fighter controller , a sort of mini-AWACS, with the back-seater using the radar and data links to control other fighters.
a a
However, the PVO was not interested in buying the Su-27PU. All five Su-27PUs, with the new designation of Su-30 , ended up in PVO service in the training role.
Deliveries to the 54th Interceptor Air Regiment at the advanced training base at Savostleyka began in 1996.

A Su-30M two-seat multirole variant was proposed for Russian use and a few may have been built in the mid-1990s for evaluation.

a a a a
Sukhoi proposed an export variant, Su-30MK, where MK stood for Modernizirovannyi Kommercheskiy (Modernized Commercial). Sukhoi displayed a Su -30MK
demonstrator at the Paris Air Show in 1993. A much more optimized Su-30MK demonstrator, rebuilt from the first production Su-27PU, was displayed in 1994.

The Su-30 is a multirole fighter. It has a two seat cockpit with an airbrake behind the canopy.

The Su-30MK is capable of accomplishing a wide variety of combat missions at significant distances from the home base, in any weather conditions and during radar
[ ]
jamming, both by day and night. This multirole aircraft is adequately fitted for the entire spectrum of tactical and operational combat employment scenarios,
varying from counter-air tasks (i.e. gaining air superiority, air defense, air patrol and escort) to ground attack, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, close air
support and maritime attack. Additionally, the Su-30MK can perform ECCM and early warning tasks, as well as exercise command-and-control over a group of aerial
[ ]
combat assets performing joint missions. It has a 9 g load maneuverability.
b
[edit] '
The Su-30MK's aerodynamic configuration is an unstable-in-longitude triplane. To increase lifting effectiveness and enhance maneuverability of the aircraft, canards are
installed. They are deflected automatically to ensure controlled flight at high angles-of-attack. Canards, however, are installed only in some Su-30 variants like the Su-
30MKI.

The integrated aerodynamic configuration, combined with the thrust vectoring control ability, results in unprecedented maneuverability and unique takeoff and landing
characteristics. Equipped with a digital fly-by- wire system, the Su-30MK is able to perform some very advanced maneuvers. They include the well-known Pugachev¶s
[2]
Cobra and the Bell. This allows the aircraft to rapidly strip airspeed, causing a pursuing fighter to overshoot. While performing a somersault maneuver the aircraft makes
360-degree turn in the pitch plane without any loss of altitude. In the Controlled Flat Spin maneuver the aircraft performs several full turns in the horizontal plane, with zero
forward speed, virtually on the spot.
[edit]$

The aircraft's power plant incorporates two Saturn AL-31F afterburning low- bypass turbofan engines. Two AL-31F turbofans, each rated at 12,500 kgf (123 kN, 27,550 lb)
of full afterburning thrust ensuresMach 2 horizontal flight speed, 1,350 km/h speed at low altitude, and a 230 m/s climbing rate.

With a normal fuel reserve of 5,270 kg, the Su-30MK is capable of performing a 4.5-hour combat mission with a range of 3,000 km. An in-flight refueling system increases
the flight duration up to 10 hours with a range of 5,200 km (3,231 miles) at cruise altitudes of 11±13 km.

The long range significantly increases deployment options. The missions vary from prolonged patrols, and escorts to long-range intercepts and ground attacks.

Differential ±15-degree deflection of the engines' asymmetric nozzles (with turn axes positioned at 32-deg angle to each other) enables pitch/yaw thrust vectoring control.
Depending on the maneuver to be performed, nozzles deflections can be synchronized with or differ from the deflections of horizontal tail planes.

A two-member crew configuration contributes significantly to enhanced combat capabilities, due to rational distribution of workload between crew members. While the first
pilot flies the aircraft, controls weapons and performs manoeuvring dogfight, the co-pilot employs BVR air-to-air and air-to-ground guided weapons in long-range
engagements, monitors tactical environment to ensure situational awareness, and performs command-and-control tasks in group missions.

; Radar: Either a N001VE or Phazotron N010 Zhuk-27 or an N011M BARS pulse Doppler passive electronically scanned array radar. Capable of detecting and
tracking up to 15 air targets, while concurrently attacking four of them. The N011M BARS radar (featuring a 20- m (65.6 ft) resolution) ensures detection of large sea-
surface targets at a distance of up to 400 km (248.5 mi), and small- size ones at a distance of up to 120 km (74.5 mi).
; Other avionics include an integrated optronic sighting-and-navigation system with a laser gyro navigation system helmet-mounted displays, a head-up-
display, multifunction color LCDs with image mixing ability and a GPS system (GLONASS/NAVSTAR compatible).
; IR and laser sighting pods to detect and engage small-size ground targets are available for installation. The aircraft is provided with an ECCM facility
intended to subvert hostile electronic and electro-optical countermeasures.
; The aircraft features autopilot ability at all flight stages including low-altitude flight in terrain-following mode, and individual and group combat employment
against air and ground/sea-surface targets. Automatic control system interconnected with the navigation system ensures route flight, target approach, recovery to
airfield and landing approach in automatic mode.
