Why do you choose the intended field of study and what is your study plan (Maximum of 300 words) I have chosen the Accounting Course as it really suits me as a person who is comfortable with numbers and aspire to pursue a career in Accountancy. I believe I possess the required skills to become a successful accountant as I am a critical and analytical thinker, a good team player, possess good leadership and interpersonal skills and able to manage time efficiently besides having attention to detail. For my pre-university studies, I plan to take up A-Levels locally and I hope to pursue my degree in a reputable university overseas, notably in the United States, United Kingdom or Australia. After graduating, my next aim is to take up membership in an accredited professional accounting association, preferably CIMA, ACCA or CPA, as a professional qualification surely will act as a platform for me to accelerate my career and achieve personal financial goals. I also aim to take up internship or to work for one of the Big Four accountancy firms, notably Deloitte or Ernst & Young, at some point of my career as I would gain valuable exposure and the opportunity to work with professionals in a highly competitive environment. (190 words) Why do you think you deserve UEM Scholarship (Maximum of 300 words) I deserve the UEM scholarship as I have an excellent academic track record and I am also active in my co-curicular activities in school. Academically speaking, I have scored consistent results in my school and I have successfully acquired 9A+s in the recent SPM examination. In addition, as a prefect, I have honed my leadership and interpersonal skills from my daily management of students besides having strong communication skills. The various intense training in the Police Cadet has also instilled discipline and be tough mentally to face any challenges that come in my way. Moreover, I have proven that I have a flair for writing as shown in my awards from various essay-writing competitions, most notably the Bronze Award in the Commonwealth Essay Competition 2010. Besides, I have competed internationally with my harmonica band in the 8th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival last year, winning a Gold Prize and a 2nd-place finish in the process. On the other hand, I come from a middle-income family and my parents are not financially capable to fund my pre-university studies in colleges or universities.
Above all, I will not back down from daunting tasks and challenges ahead of me, but instead my determination and persistence to improve myself will guide me the way to success. Moreover, I will not be easily deterred from my aspirations and my goal of becoming a world-class charted accountant. (230 words)
