Backing up direct-attached storage is much slower than backing up to data that resides on the EMC SAN. Our backup speed has greatly increased since we added the EMC SAN into the picture. This is a remarkable change. The SAN also has reduced the time it takes to restore data from the backup site. I can now restore a file in a matter of seconds, rather than the 20 or 30 minutes it took when I was getting it from the server. The access time for users is faster now. The EMC SAN has significantly enhanced our users abilities to acquire that data.
