Skill: speaking Situation: A dialogue in a restaurant

I. Objectives: to help students use correctly quantititive words. to help students know how to order food or drink in a restaurant. to help students practise the dialogue in daily life situation. To help students know the communicative skill in daily conversations and communicative approaches.

Lesson plan

II. Time allowed: 45 III. Students level: beginners IV. Teaching aids: OHP, board, board marker, handouts, game, pictures. V. Lexical items: slice, bowl, carton, piece, bill. VI. Anticipated problem: Students may have no knowledge about quantititive words so teacher should be well prepered to help. VII. Teaching Procedure Stages I. Pre- speaking Warm up: reorderning 1.lbil => bill 2.pzzia=> pizza 3.osup=> soup 4.uhrgnry=> hungry 5.rrode=> order 6.eariwt=> waiter T-S Time Teachers activities -Teacher: divides the class into groups of 4 or 5 students. - shows the rules of the game on the screen, then explains them to students clearly ( If nesssary, call on one student to translate them into Vietnamese) - says: Now, work in teams, in 3 you have to try your best to arrange these disordering words to make them meaningful words, which team has got more correct answers in the shortest time will be the winner and will get a very and very lovely peresent. - makes questions: understand? Ready?. - shows the meaningful words on the sceen to check the keys with students =>then dedares the Students activities - work in groups OHP, cards -listen to the rules of the game Teaching aids

To help you understand the content of the lesson, Ill introduce you some vocabularies. * Vocabulary - shows pictures on the screen one by one, then asks student What is this? + a slice of pizza + a cup of tea + a bowl of soup + a carton of milk + a piece of chesse + the bill - helps students to read these words, then let students practice reading them again. - call on some students to reead again. ( correct students pronunciation if necessary) *Structure S + want (s) + N / to V Ai muon _ cai gi? / lam gi? - deliver the text. - gets student to find out the sentences using the structures above in the text. - when were hungry or thirsty. Students looks at the pictures on the screen then give the teachers answers

- says: Basing on the structure given above, make some sentences using that structure. * Activitive 1: - shows a model conversation between Tom and a waiter at the restaunt on the screen. - deliver handout 1 ( the model conversation on the screen) - gets the students to work in pairs, practice the conversation in 5 - calls on some pairs to practise as samples. - gives comments if needed. * Activity 2: Question - Answer: - delivers handout 2 with questions. - shows some questions on screen. 1. What does he drink? - says Well answer these question by playing games lucky numbers I will divide the class in to 2 big teams: A and B - shows the rules of the game on the screen, explains them to students - calls on one sutdent to translate them into Vietnamese. - asks : Are you ready to play games? After that, teacher congratulates the winner with a small present.

Post-speaking Free practice S -S 6 - asks students to use the guided words above to make conversation in their own way. - calls on 2 pairs to present their conversations. - gives comments and marks if neccessary. IV. Homework 2 T -S - asks students to learn by heart new words, make sentences with them. - make simple sentences to report what Tom does at the restaurant. - asks students to prepare for the next part. The end - work in pairs. - make conversations. - 2 pairs present their conversations.

Tom: Good morning. Waiter: Good morning, Can I help you? Tom: Yes, Now Im very hungry and I want to eat something. Waiter: What would you like? Tom: Id like a slice of pizza, a cup of tea and a carton of milk. Waiter: Anything else? Tom: Yes, Id like a bowl of soup, and a piece of cheese, please. Waiter: Wait a minute, sir. (3 minutes later) Waiter: Here youre, sir Tom: thank you. (10 minutes later) Tom: Im full now, I have eaten all my food, give me the bill. Be quick I have to got to work now. The waiter: It costs $ 20 Tom: Here you are. Waiter: Thank you and have a good day. Tom: Thank you.
