The Amarok unites cross-country mobility, flexibility and efficiency like no other pickup. Set on a robust ladderframe chassis and encased in Volkswagen build quality, the Amarok is packed full of smart technology and design. The Amaroks powerful 2.0 litre TDIBiturbo engine sets new standards in terms of torque, fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The shiftable 4MOTION all-wheel drive system along with driver assist features like off-road ABS and ESP provide it with traction and safe handling in all terrain types. Then theres its ability to shoulder the load - with the largest load bay dimensions in its category, the Amarok accommodates a Euro pallet crosswise between its wheel housings. On tar, the Amarok also breaks new ground. With high quality interior, low noise levels and driving characteristics that leave nothing to be desired, it sets new standards in terms of comfort and ride dynamics.

4x2 rear-wheel drive.

The Amarok is equipped with rear-wheel drive as standard. During acceleration, the vehicle weight is transferred to the back wheels for optimal road contact. In addition, rear-wheel drive enables steering that is not influenced by the engine torque which results in a smaller steering radius - enhancing driveability.

Shiftable 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

Tough assignments call for smart and efficient power management. With shiftable 4MOTION, the Amarok is able to distribute the driving force equally across the front and rear axles. All it takes is the push of a button and you will experience reliable traction on almost all road surfaces.

2.0 litre TDI Biturbo engine.

The Amarok is equipped with one of the smartest, most efficient engines of our time. The two exhaust turbochargers result in impressive vehicle response at lower engine revs and an increased power output at higher revs. With 120 kW and 400 Nm, you can leave the daily grind behind you quickly. High operating costs are also a thing of the past, because the Amarok has an average fuel consumption of just 7.9 litres per 100 km. No wonder the Volkswagen Race Touareg relies on the same Biturbo engine technology for the toughest rally in the world the Dakar.

Heavy Duty and Comfort Leaf Springs.

The Amarok comes standard with comfort leaf springs. The maximum payload of 850kg increases ride comfort whilst reducing road noise so that you can experience the true joy of the drive. If your Amarok needs to handle particularly tough assignments, the optional heavy duty leaf springs provide a high level of safety for payloads of up to one ton and are robust enough to master even the roughest terrains.

The Amarok.
Even the toughest challenges are easy assignments for the Amarok. It has been designed to consistently provide high resilience and functionality, with the broadest load area in its category and comfortable seats in sturdy Anthracite fabric. The Amarok offers that little bit extra at all times, particularly in terms of its passenger compartment space.Look forward to generously laid out leg and head room, which remains unequalled in this category. Practicality is further enhanced with lots of interior storage trays to provide ample space to store almost everything. Back seats can be folded up for additional storage space underneath the seating area. The backrest is also foldable so that you can easily reach the vehicle tool kit.

Height-adjustable driver and front passenger seats can be adjusted individually and ergonomically for a comfortable and relaxing drive.

Even the smallest details have been considered. Load platform illumination allows safe loading, even in poor lighting conditions. Whilst on the road, the integrated high level brake light provides added safety.

The Amarok Trendline. Comfort and versatility partnered perfectly.

The Amarok Trendlines dynamic appearance is thanks to its outstanding design features, such as colour coded front bumper and door handles. 16 alloy wheels complete the look. Inside, the ergonomically designed seats are upholstered in Anthracite Trail fabric - proving design and functionality can in fact sit side by side. The centre armrest provides added comfort with the practical convenience of storage space. The drawers under the front seats can be used to store a number of small items within easy reach. The MP3 compatible radio ensures that you have all your music at your fingertips, while the climatic air conditioning system automatically regulates the temperature inside the vehicle to ensure superior comfort at all times. Of course, if its fresh air youre after, the electric windows can be operated with a simple touch of a button.

Climatic Air Conditioning.

The manually regulated climatic air conditioning system ensures a pleasant climate inside the vehicle in all seasons.

Multi-function Display.
Driving time, average speed, average fuel consumption and driving route, nothing will escape your attention with the multi-function display.

Side Mirror.
Keep everything in clear view with a flick of your wrist. The door mirrors on the driver side and front passenger side can be comfortably adjusted with the push of a button.

The Amarok Highline. Striking design, superior comfort.

The Amarok Highline is equipped to take you to the top of the highest mountains with the optional 4Motion all-wheel drive system, but is equally equipped to cruise the city in style. The Amarok Highline turns heads with partially chrome plated door mirrors and front bumpers. Optional Anthracite Vienna leather upholstery ensures ultimate comfort on any drive - to complete the package, the steering-wheel, gear lever and handbrake lever are also leather covered. The Amarok Highline comes standard with 17 alloy wheels.

The Climatronic Air Conditioning.

This system ensures ultimate comfort with dual zone technology. The temperature can be individually set for both the driver and passenger compartments and sensors ensure constant temperatures throughout the drive.

Integrated step tread.

This is integrated in the chrome-plated bumper and ensures that loading and unloading is even easier and more comfortable for you.

Exterior and wheels

The design of the Amarok is not only functional but extremely striking too. Youll recognize the typical Volkswagen face with its distinctive front headlights from afar. Flared wheelhouses, which are standard on the Amarok Highline, underline its powerful character and eye-catching rear lights perfectly round off the vehicles strong look. Theres no question about it, this design conveys pure determination. The exterior of the Amarok is not only striking because of its flared wheelarches. Chrome-plated rear bumpers also enhance its imposing appearance. A wide range of colours and paint finishes are available to complete the look.

Front bumper with chrome applications.

The chrome applications present a striking contrast to the vehicles paint finish.

Electronically-adjustable door mirrors.

They can be heated and are equipped with an integrated antenna. This way, you are not only offered a clear view, but clear radio reception as well.

Load area.
Thanks to a loading width of 1,222 mm between wheel housings, the Amarok can even transport Euro pallets crosswise - unthinkable for most pickups. The entire load area is used in an optimal manner. There are four lashing eyes to ensure that the load is secured correctly so that everything stays in place. The sturdy tailboard can also be used as a practical extension of the load area.

Interior
However tough a work assignment may be, nothing will shake you in the Amarok. The comfortable interior has equipment that you would only expect to find in a passenger vehicle. From optional leather upholstery to the ergonomically designed dashboard, the passenger compartment has been designed to make you feel comfortable. Generous amounts of head and leg room provide you with plenty of space so that you and your passengers travel in style.

The cockpit.
The premium look and feel of the materials and the ergonomic arrangement of the controls set a whole new standard for pickups. Plenty of stowage compartments ensure that you have enough space to store your personal items safely and securely. A lockable glove compartment adds extra security for valuable items. Your interior comfort is also well taken care of with practical eyeball air vents which allow for direct and precise regulation of airflow.

The interior, rear.

As soon as you sit down in one of the Amaroks comfortable seats, you wont want to get up again. There is an impressive amount of head room and leg room on the rear passenger bench seat. The rear seating is especially functional as the bench seat can be folded up to provide additional stowage space underneath.

The interior, front.

The interior has been designed with your well-being in mind. The two front seats offer individual height-adjustment and are equipped with a centre armrest as standard. Head restraints can also be adjusted to suit your size. There are drawers underneath the seats so that you can store smaller items.

Running gear
The Amarok stands out for its smooth and comfortable driving characteristics on the road, but the best way to experience the intense ride and comfort of the Amarok is by driving on rough terrain. Because thats where it can really prove what it has to offer.State-of-the-art gearbox technology and superior off-road capabilities ensure optimal traction.

Carpet floor covering.

It is particularly robust and creates a warm atmosphere in the passenger compartment.

Ramp angle.
The Amarok can take you over sticks and stones safely. And over significantly bigger things too. With a ramp angle of 23, even large obstacles such as tree trunks and rocks are no longer a problem.

Approach and departure angle.

The Amarok can brave steep hills as well as deep puddles. It has an impressive approach angle of 28 and a departure angle of 23.6 (28 without bumper) as well as a wading depth of up to 500 mm.

Shiftable 4MOTION
The shiftable 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, available as an option, ensures reliable traction on all road surfaces. It distributes 50% of the engine output to each of the axles to improve forward thrust, particularly in poor weather conditions. The comfort leaf springs improve travel comfort, particularly at high speeds, and reduce road driving noise at the same time. The heavy duty leaf springs have been specially designed for off-road assignments and allow for a payload of up to one ton.

The centre console.

A practical storage compartment with a cover is located behind the handbrake.

Robust floor covering.

The washable surface makes it even easier to keep the passenger compartment clean.

Side slope angle.

The Amarok has an affinity for extremes and can even handle roads with a lateral tilt of approximately 50. Now youll be able to cross any slopes without a problem.

Hill-climbing ability.
The Amarok can climb any mountain and carry your load at the same time. A trailer load of 2.8 tons is no problem at a 12% incline. With a payload of 1 ton, it can conquer hills with a 100% (45) incline.

Differential lock.
When the rear differential lock is activated, both wheels at the back of the vehicle are powered with the same amount of force and rotation. This offers optimal traction, even on sandy or slippery surfaces.

Airbags.
Above all, the Amarok puts safety first. The Trendline has an airbag for the driver and passenger to cushion the head and body in the event of an accident. The Amarok Highline has combined head/thorax airbags in addition to the airbags for the driver and front passenger. These inflate if there is a heavy side-impact collision and lower the risk of injury to the ribcage.

Emergency stop signal.

In the event of an emergency stop at 50 kph or above, the brake lights start flashing. If the vehicle comes to a standstill, the hazard warning lights are activated and will automatically switch off again as soon as a speed of 10 kph is reached when driving is resumed.

Anti-theft warning system.

Available in conjunction with central locking, this system includes an electronic immobiliser, a back-up horn as an audible warning signal as well as opening protection for the fuel lid, doors and engine compartment lid.

Safety and comfort

The Amarok easily copes with difficult terrain thanks to numerous safety systems and comfort features. ABS and a new generation of ESP help you to master even critical driving situations safely. The robust ladder-frame chassis makes the Amarok an ideal partner for the intense rigours of day-to-day work. These measures, amongst others, ensure that you will arrive at your destination feeling safe and relaxed.

Anti-Slip Regulation ASR.

If one of the driven wheels has undesirable high rotation speed (slip rate), the ASR system activates a partial braking procedure. This prevents wheel spin and facilitates smooth acceleration.

Anti-lock Braking System ABS.

If a wheel is in danger of locking, the system immediately intervenes by reducing the brake pressure in a controlled manner. This helps to keep the Amarok fully steerable in situations where hard braking is necessary.

Electronic Stabilisation Programme.

ESP helps prevent the vehicle from swerving. In order to respond to critical driving conditions, the system evaluates data provided by a network of sensors. It recognises what direction the driver is steering in and what direction the vehicle is moving in and it also monitors the load situation. In this way it can build up brake force to offer directional stability when needed. At the same time, ESP is synchronised with the ABS, MSR and ASR functions and also remains activated with shiftable 4MOTION all-wheel drive. ESP Trailer Stabilisation is a subsidiary function of the Electronic Stabilisation Programme. Should the trailer start to fluctuate heavily, the system slows it down by means of controlled braking and reduced engine torque. This steadies the trailer and increases driving safety.

Load platform illumination.

A convenient light illuminates the load platform so that you can even load your Amarok in the dark.

12V socket.
Conveniently located on the dashboard, the 12V socket can be easily accessed to connect a variety of equipment including mobile navigation systems.

Hill Start and Hill Descent assist.

This system, which is only available in conjunction with ESP, prevents the Amarok from rolling backwards on an uphill incline and increases braking pressure on downhill slopes.

Off-road ABS.
Off-road ABS has also been made available in the Amarok. It has been specially developed for use on difficult terrain. As soon as the off-road ABS function has been activated, at the touch of a button, the braking interval is increased. The wheels lock up in a controlled manner so that small wedges of material from the ground (such as gravel or sand) can build up in front of each wheel. This can substantially reduce the stopping distance of the vehicle.

Climatic Air Conditioning System.

The Climatic Air Conditioning system allows you to set the desired interior temperature, and it constantly monitors the cabin to ensure that the temperature is regulated for optimal comfort.

Climatronic Air Conditioning System.

The Climatronic Air Conditioning system features separate temperature adjustments for the driver and front passenger. The electronic controls take all important factors into consideration. In this way, Climatronic can add more or less cool air to achieve the desired temperature setting with a draught-free airflow.

Multimedia
In case the call of the wild isnt enough for you, the Amarok offers a variety of attractive sound experiences. The radio systems provide great entertainment for the entire passenger compartment with up to six loudspeakers. To ensure that your journey is not only comfortable but also safe, the multi-function display supplies you with important vehicle data. Now nothing will stand in the way of an exciting, yet relaxing drive.

The Design Underride Guard

This emphasises the Amaroks distinctive front and adds a typical off-road touch with its textured pattern. Painted in two colours, it spans the entire width of the vehicle.

Styling bar.
Strong and robust, the Volkswagen genuine styling bar with its solid twin pipe design makes the Amarok the king of the wilderness. The styling bar is a classic pickup feature and visually enhances the Amarok. 76 mm diameter pipes provide a powerful look.

Rear window protection grille.

The grille is mounted on the loading sill and prevents loose cargo from damaging the rear window.

Side bars with tread plates.

These side bars, made with highly-polished stainless steel, give the vehicle a dynamic and sporty feel. They feature robust black tread plates which can bear a weight of up to 200 kg.

Mud flap.
The perfectly fitted mud flaps are extremely hard-wearing and durable. They protect the underbody, bumpers and the rear of the Amarok from excessive dirt. In addition, stone impact is reduced and water spray minimised.

Stainless steel side bar.

Gloss polished stainless steel lends the vehicle a noble and sporty appearance. The pipes are mounted on the series standard mounting points without additional drilling.

Textile foot mat.

The textile foot mats provide the Amarok interior with optimal protection. They are perfectly shaped to fit the vehicle and the anti-slip coating and the mounting system prevent the front foot mats from slipping or twisting.

The load compartment tub.

This tub is made of scratch-resistant HDPE material and offers effective protection against anything that may soil the load compartment during transport. It is available in two versions, for mounting below the loading sill and for mounting above the loading sill. The standard lashing eyes can continue to be employed.

Functional Underride Guard.

This particularly robust underride guard increases driving safety by offering protection for the fuel tank and gearbox to make the Amarok even more reliable during tough assignments.

Side bar with steps.

The solid side bars create a more sleek appeal. In addition, the integrated step surfaces simplify entering the vehicle and loading the roof. Black powder-coated steel is designed to be both powerful and robust. The pipes are mounted on the series standard mounting points without additional drilling and can bear up to 200 kg.

Rubber foot mat.

The rubber foot mats provide the Amarok interior with optimal protection. They are perfectly shaped to fit the vehicle and the anti-slip coating and the mounting system prevent the front foot mats from slipping or twisting.

Tarpaulin cover for the load area.

The tarpaulin cover is clipped onto an aluminium frame on the loading sill. Three crossbeams ensure maximum stability. The tarpaulin cover is water-repellent and is black in colour.

Tow coupling.
With a trailing load of up to 2800 kg at 12% incline, its as robust as the Amarok itself. As soon as it is connected, the 7 pin electrical plug activates the ESP trailer rig stabiliser.

Paint finishes
The Amaroks paint finish is applied in several coats. The result is a scratch-resistant, tough upper layer. This keeps it looking as good as new, even in the toughest of environments.
