Drawing Workshops We have decided to postpone these workshops due to lack of numbers. We will however look at running them again in the Autumn if we can gather enough people. So perhaps this isnt quite the time for budding artists but hopefully you will re-emerge from the summer sunshine to join us at a later stage! Books Looks like there is a spring clean going on as we had a donation of books from a community member during the week. Its so encouraging to know that the library is being utilised and that books are being circulated, so have a sort and drop in any read masterpieces and you might even qualify for a coffee! LATE LINC More and more people are availing of the late opening each Thursday. LINCs garden in the Summer Evenings is a lovely space so make it yours! Emma, Tina or Karla will be here to meet you and have a cuppa out the back or if you prefer to just use the garden for a bit of peace we wont invade your space. Now the only difficulty here is if there are a few people around you may have to lock yourself in the shed for quiet time! On a serious note we have 2 other rooms in LINC which can be utilised so head in and say hello. Phoenix Youth Busy, Busy, Busy thats the only way to describe the group. The practice sessions for their Rap project are in full swing. Please put the date in your diary of the Global Fest in the Peace Park on July 30th where Phoenix will be preforming. The group will be winding down for the summer but they will be having their own BBQ with the lads from UNITE before they finish up. Gillian the Youth Worker will be interviewed this Saturday on LGBT Hour on Cork Community Radio 100.5FM between 11am until 12pm with some members of the group. Book Club The book club began last week, the following are details of the book being reviewed. This is an informal get together so just come along next time and join the group. Next meeting will be on Tuesday 5th of July at 7pm. The book we will be reviewing is: The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. The Uncommon Reader is none other than HM the Queen who drifts accidentally into reading when her corgis stray into a mobile library parked at Buckingham Palace. She reads widely (JR Ackerley, Jean Genet, Ivy Compton Burnett and the classics) and intelligently. Her reading naturally changes her world view and her relationship with people like the oleaginous prime minister and his repellent advisers. She comes to question the prescribed order of the world and loses patience with much that she has to do. In short, her reading is subversive. The consequence is, of course, surprising, mildly shocking and very funny
