INTRODUCTION This experiment entitled, Water Content of Orange, Grape and Watermelon, is about knowing how much water

a grape, watermelon and orange would contain through weighing. Water is a chemical substance with the chemical formula H2O. Its molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms connected by covalent bonds. Clean drinking water is essential to human and other life forms. Water plays an important role in this study because its content in some fruits is the one being considered. On the other hand, fruits considered in this research are orange, grape and watermelon. Such fruits are chosen by the researchers because these fruits are the ones mostly bought by people. These fruits are also loved to be eaten by most children. Oranges have different kinds. In this experiment, the researchers used a kind of orange called Navel Orange. Navel oranges are sweet, usually seedless orange having at its apex a navel-like formation enclosing an underdeveloped fruit. A grape is a non-climacteric fruit that grows on the perennial and deciduous woody vines of the genus Vitis. Grapes can be eaten raw or used for making jam, juice, jelly, vinegar, wine, grape seed extracts, raisins, and grape-seed oil. Grapes are also used in some kind of confectionery. Watermelon is a fruit that most people love to eat. It is enjoyed in many parts of the world as a refreshing especially when chilled light tasting fruit, with a propensity, when eaten slices, to drip down the chin.

The group decides to conduct a research on the topic for it pays to know the water content of the fruits mostly eaten by people and how the amount of water affect the nutritional benefit that they will get from the fruit. The group wants to know how healthy these fruits are by its water content. Nowadays, most children tend to be dehydrated because of the weather. In addition to this, they lack the habit of drinking the right amount of water in a day. However, finding an alternative for water may also be of help. Fruits that contain a great amount of water are good alternatives of water. They are good to eat specially for those with illnesses.

MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY Materials 3 oranges 3 grapes 3 small cuts of watermelon Kitchen knife Aluminum foil Weighing scale

Methodology All the materials to be used in the experiment were prepared. The three oranges were individually weighed. The aluminum foil being used to dry the orange in was also weighed. The oranges were sliced in very thin sliced to speed up the drying process. The slices per orange are placed over the aluminum foil. They were kept in a warm place until they were fully dried. When the oranges are already dried, they were weighed. The weight of the aluminum foil was deducted to weight of the dried oranges. The same procedure was done for the grapes and watermelon. All data gathered by the researchers were recorded and analyzed.
