GT-VTRAIN

is a multi-purpose simulation tool for the mechanical design analysis of valvetrain systems. It has a well proven and validated track record and performs, in a single environment, the following valvetrain analysis functions: Cam design Valvetrain mechanism kinematics Quasi-static rigid analysis, with all inertias plus valve springs; computes all forces, separation speeds Valvetrain multi-body dynamics Contact (e.g. cam-follower) tribology: Hertzian stress, deformation, oil film thickness, wear load Valvetrain frictional forces and power loss Camshaft torsional vibrations (time/freq. domain) Camshaft bending dynamics Camshaft bearing orbits, friction torques Gear, chain and belt drive dynamics GT-VTRAIN models can be run stand-alone, or together with coupled models of cranktrain (GT-CRANK) and of fuel injection (GT-FUEL)

All-in-one Tool for Design

General Capabilities
All standard valvetrain configurations: direct-acting, pushrod, end-pivot and center-pivot OHC, and their variations Solid and hydraulic lifters, flat or roller followers Single or dual valve springs, gas springs Preconfigured subassemblies, or compound objects, describing standard valvetrain parts (e.g. RockerArm, PoppetValve, HydrLashAdjuster etc.) minimize modeling effort; they can also be combined with dynamics primitives

Kinematic and quasi-static predictions and animation in VTDesign

VTDesign - A Unique Valvetrain Design Tool

The cam design, valvetrain kinematic and quasi-static analysis capabilities of GT-VTRAIN are also available in a specialized visual environment called VTDesign, in which users may: Create, import, graphically edit/modify cam or lift profiles; also create user-defined polynomial cam design strategies Calculate kinematics of a valvetrain branch; they can also animate valvetrain motions and valve-piston interference Translate between cam shape, flat follower lift, valve lift and machine tool path profiles Carry out quasi-static analysis of a valvetrain, predict nominal forces, torques, deformations, separation speeds Export a model file into GT-VTRAIN for multi-body analysis. Because of its visual nature, VTDesign is a productivity-enhancing tool allowing rapid evaluation of valvetrain design iterations. VTDesign is also included, at no extra cost, in GT-POWER.
