First Baptist Church Naples

I visited our grandchildren in Tampa just before leaving for Colorado and our time of vacation. I was surprised to see Abby, the two-year old, run into the room wearing a pink cap and yelling, Play ball! Go team! Eric, my wonderful son-in-law, said to her, Can you say, batter up? Abby chirped, batter up, sister! It is wonderful to return from our time away, and I will say about my ministry, Batter up and about our church, Go team. I also cheer on all of us who are preparing for the fall ministries and say, Lets play ball.

I am anticipating another wonderful school year FBA Employment Opp. of faithful blessing and ministry for every aspect Kidztown of our church, including First Baptist Academy. I am so grateful for how our folks have been faithful C2 Ministry during the summer in giving, attendance, and service. Dedicated athletes will play no matter how many or how few are in the stands or how difficult their schedule may be. We are playing for our Great Coach, the Lord Jesus Christ. I also thank God for the excellent preachers who have filled the pulpit and our great staff who weekly Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness (Psalm 37:3). We truly have the Dream Team. Thank you for praying for Janet and me. We had times of rest, hiking and driving through the mountains, golf, visiting with our son at Seminary in Texas, reading, and seeking the Lord. I sought to improve my skills on my new iPad and somehow enter the 21st Century of technology (I still have a long way to go to be considered a geeky techno nerd). Truly, There is no place like home, particularly when it comes to our wonderful church and friends here in Naples. These 19 years of pastoral ministry have been the happiest and most productive of my life. I trust that any time away allows Janet and me to have a longer, enduring ministry. I hope that I bat more singles, more doubles, and even more home runs than strikeouts!

Wednesday Evenings 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center

Our topic this week is: If We Know What Is Right, Can We Do It?

Do you sometimes struggle with this thing we call the Christian life? Why is it so hard? Why do we do the things that we hate? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does it seem that at times God is unfair? Why , Why, Why? You will find some answers this week, but you might also discover some more questions?
Sunday - Romans 3:21-31 / Monday - Romans 4:1-12 Tuesday - Romans 4:13-25 / Wednesday - Romans 5:1-11 Thursday - Romans 5:12-21 / Friday - Romans 6:1-12 Saturday - Romans 6:13-23

Im finding Bonhoeffer amazing! Systematic Theology students will particularly love this book. Im excited as we will be discussing similar parallels to our day and time, and possible future. - Janet

Bonhoeffer is the story of a life framed by a passion for truth and a commitment to justice on behalf of those who face implacable evil.
SILENCE IN THE FACE OF EVIL IS ITSELF EVIL: GOD WILL NOT HOLD US GUILTLESS. NOT TO SPEAK IS TO SPEAK. NOT TO ACT IS TO ACT.

A Few Good Men & Women!!!

Protected Harbor continues to provide loving Christian care for Developmentally Disabled Adults! With the help of people like you, over the past decade, we have built a beautiful home, on the campus of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, to be a home for six lovely developmentally disable ladies. Our long term mission is to build many more of these homes for both men and women, where they will receive full time, quality care, living skills instruction, workshop and vocational opportunities for earned wages, classroom and physical education, along with social activities and companionship. They will find a place to feel loved, respected and needed! They will be encouraged to grow and develop spiritually and emotionally. We are a foundation of love: showing God's grace, teaching and implanting God's Word. Our short term mission is to pray that we get more people involved in Protected Harbor! Involved as Board Members, Friends of the Board and Volunteers. We need help to continue to grow our mission, and in turn help the precious people who ' are not so able to help themselves.' As the beloved apostle Paul encourages us when he wrote in Philippians 2:3-4, "to look out for the interested of others" (NASB). We have opportunities for you to assist in our forthcoming Prayer Breakfast, being hosted by The Kiwanis, and also our Third Annual Charity Golf Event taking place in March 2012. Of course, we also welcome any and all of your continued donations, and thank you! If you would like to learn more, please stop by the Kiosk in the Commons before you leave church today, or call 239-248-7449, or visit the web site at www.godsprotectedharbor.com.
