2CourseDescription:
The course builds on the outcome of previous design studio. Students' previous design project is utilized and incorporated in this studio. The course emphasis is on small scale projects stressing on design principles and composition (form-function relationships); landscape design, site planning, and urban planning processes; standards and design criteria; as well as meaning of form and space. It will address simple design problem solving and will try to improve students graphics and presentation skills. The course also focuses on important issues of landscape and urban design, which are related to the site; such as: views, topography, circulation (pedestrian and vehicular), orientation, hierarchy of spaces (private, semi-private, semi-public, and public), hard and soft landscape elements.

Understanding design principles both functional and visual. Demonstrating an understanding of composition: form-function relationships, zoning, and context. Showing clear understanding of design process. Generating design ideas that address specific design problems. Understanding the meaning of form (aesthetic) and functions (criteria) Understanding relationships between various components: spaces and masses. - Demonstrating abilities to use graphics: using appropriate scale to draw plans, sections, elevations, perspectives, and producing models.
