INTRODUCTION
Title of this document is METHOD STATEMENT FOR HOSE TESTING OF DOORS AND WINDOWS. This Method Statement has been prepared in accordance with Project requirements for the intention to support the hose testing activity. This document prepared in accordance applicable codes and regulations with good industry practice and is structured to follow the contract requirements. The owner of this document is ................and shall be responsible for updating the Method Statement as necessary. All new and amended procedures that affect installation shall be discussed and agreed with the Client prior to issue.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to define the sequence and methodology for the hose testing of doors and windows pertaining to the scope of work in accordance with the applicable class requirements.

SCOPE

This Method Statement covers the activity through the preparation for testing, testing, witnessing by the applicable authorities to the satisfactory completion of doors and windows as below All doors at navigation deck All windows and portlights All water tight doors

SITE PLANNING AND PREPARATION TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Common tools required to carry out this test are Scaffolding (as necessary) Calibrated pressure gauge of 0 to 7 bar (0-100 psi) Flexible hose connected to a water source with an isolation valve, pressure gauge and nozzle of internal diameter 12 mm. typical arrangements shown below.

TESTING

Hose Testing is a test to verify the tightness of the structure by a jet of water. Hose testing is applied to structures not subjected to structural or air testing, but are required to be watertight or weather tight. Hose testing is to be carried out with the pressure in the hose of at least 2 bar (30 psi) during test. The nozzle is to have a minimum inside diameter of 12 mm (0.5 in.) and is to be located at a distance to the joint not exceeding 1.5 m (5 ft). Where hose testing is impractical due to the stage of outfitting, air test or other alternate method of testing such as close visual examination and, where necessary, nondestructive test of all joints may be considered. This test shall be carried out in the most advanced stage of the fitting out of the ship.

TEST REPORT

Up on successful completion of Hose test, test parameters, test conducted period, test pressure and any observations shall be recorded and acceptance signature shall be obtained from the witnessing and certifying authorities. Typical test report format is attached as below.

ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY AND HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT

Risks, at each stage are evaluated, utilizing the matrices inserted in Appendix-1 as to determine the level of significance in terms of likelihood of occurrence and severity of hazard based on the allocated numerical values.

7.2

SPECIFIC EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

A Certified First Aide shall be on site at all times whilst a First Aid Clinic shall be available for treatment of light injuries. In the event of an emergency, all workers will assemble at an area which shall be allocated by a post sign and wait for further instructions. This point will be normally marked with a sign as MUSTER POINT. The supervisor can assist employees and point them to the assembly point.

7.3

TOOL BOX TALK

Before signing the tool box talk sheet (Table-1) please make sure you mention the below (when applied) to the employees involved in the work activity during the TOOL BOX TALK. No work at height to be undertaken without a safe working platform or suitable fall protection system. Work on electrical equipment must only be performed by a qualified electrician. No person to work on scaffolding which has not been inspected and approved for use with a Green Tag. No person will operate plant or equipment unless they have been trained, certified and authorized to do so. Any deliberate interference with safety equipment, abusive behaviour, fun or deliberate failure to comply with site will result in removal from site. 7.3.1 PERSONAL COMMITMENT I will wear my PPE at all times. I will do my best to prevent pollution damage to the environment. I will use the welfare facilities provided for me. I will protect the safety of my fellow workers. If I work safely each day, I will go home each day.
