Dr. Lankesh Eye Hospital

First Anniversary celebrations
Dr. Lankesh Eye Hospital located in Ashok Nagar, Chennai has been doing yeomen service in Eye
Care for the people of Ashok Nagar, Vadapalani, Kodambakkam and KK Nagar for the past one year. The
Hospital is equipped with world class facilities for diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of eye diseases.
The Hospital is housed in a 8000 Sq Feet Building
with three consultation suites, patient waiting
lounges, two operation theatre, Laser Rooms,
Lab, Optical Shop and Pharmacy.
The Hospital is a culmination of the dream
of Dr. S. Lankeshwaran an Ophthalmologist
and Healthcare entrepreneur he was subsequently joined by Dr. T. Senthil and Dr. N. Malathi. Dr. Lankesh heads the hospital and takes
care of administration, Dr. Senthil takes care of
Marketing and Community Outreach Activities
of the Hospital, Dr. Malathi heads the clinical
services of the Hospital.
World class Eye Care treatments are provided
in the Hospital for every kind of Eye Disease. The
treatments provided in the hospital are Phacoemulsification Suture less Cataract Surgery with foldable
Intraocular Lens Implantation, Laser Vision Correction (Lasik) for freedom from Glasses and Contact
Lenses, Glaucoma Diagnosis and Treatment, Laser
Photo Coagulation for Diabetic Retinopathy, Optical
Coherence Tomography, Contact Lenses, Squint Surgery and Cosmetic Eye Surgeries.
The Hospital celebrates its first anniversary on
June 21st 2011 and has launched a massive eye care
awareness campaign for the residents of Ashok Nagar and neighboring areas. The awesome program
initially address with Dr. N. Malathi, Director and Consultant Ophthalmologist, DLEH, followed by introduction given by Dr. T. Senthil, Director, DLEH, and
the special speeches rendered by Honorable Chief
Guest Mr. Panruti Ramachandran MLA, Kalaimamani
PMJF Ln.Dr.G. Manilal, PMJK Ln. R. Palamaalai and
MJF Lion M. Balakrishnan, District Chairman Global Warming. Finally vote of thanks devoted by Dr. S.
Lankeswaran, CMD, DLEH.

Dr. S. Lankeswaran said clubs today that the

hospital has a separate community outreach wing
to serve the economically downtrodden and poor
people. Eye Camps are conducted regularly in association with various NGOs and free eye

surgery and glasses are provided for patients screened in these camps. Around
30 Schools and more than 10000 Children were
screened in our School Screening programme during
the past year. More than 50 Eye camps were conducted during the period and free Glasses and Cataract surgeries were provided for patients screened in
these camps.
And he further said the hospital also conducted a
large scale drawing competition during the past year
and more than 5000 school children participated in
this competition, A Kolam competition was also conducted during the last year for residents of Ashok Nagar, these activities were aimed in involving the community in the activities of the Hospital.
The hospital plans to launch training programmes
for Ophthalmologists and paramedical staff, tie-ups
with International Organisations for Community outreach activities and is also planning to expand by creating peripheral centers in other localities of Chennai.
We wish them there great vision for the peoples
vision.

The natural phenomenon formed off Avoca

beach north of Sydney on may 30th 2011 a

tall, thin funnel of cloud and water spray water
spouts are formed by a high layer of cold air
blowing across water, and clashing with the
warm air below various sea life is often caught
up in the funnel and then clumped many niles
away on land.
They usually remain off the coast, but can
occasionally strike land, causing widespread
devastation. Up to three more water spouts were
reportedly spotted along the same stretch of
coast at around the same time. Like this, another
strangest natural phenomenon happened in the
Pacific Ocean near Sydney on 28th Sep 2007.
Turns to foam it is comprised of dead plants,
decomposed fish and seaweed excretions. The
group of teenage surfers who were waiting to
catch a wave surprised, when they were swallowed up in a giant bubble bath the foam was
so light that they could puff it out of their hands and
watch it float away. It stretched for 30 miles out in into
the pacific in a phenomenon not seen at the beach for
more than three decades.
Scientists explain that the foam is created by the impurities in the ocean such as salts, chemicals, dead plants,
and so on. All these are churned up together by powerful
currents which cause the water to form bubbles. These
bubbles
stick to

each other as they are carried below the surface by the

current towards the shore as a wave starts to form on the
surface, the motion of the water causes the bubbles to
swirl upwards and massed together, they become foam,
the foam surfs towards shore until the wave crashes tossing the foam in the air.
In both cases, storms play the big role. In the second
case, storms off the New South Wales coast and further
north of queen land had created a huge disturbance in the
ocean, hitting a stretch of water where there was a particularly high amount of the substances which
form into bubbles.

It was a long, tiring evening. The function started

by 3 PM on 10th June and ended after 4 hours of name

calling and back- slapping. Yet, it was a rewarding period of

four hours when the district awards recognizing the good
work of the district-clubs were presented. President Mukund was made to walk to the dais many times to receive the
trophies for best performance in all the avenues of service.
RCMS finds a place in the top 20 clubs of the district with the
following awards:
1.Club Service 1st - Best weekly meetings
2.Community service development - 2nd - Maternal and child
welfare
3.International service - 1st.
4.New generation -1st - Interact.
5.Rotary Foundation - 1st PolioPlus.
