My last issue was toward the beginning of the year so I have a lot of catching up to do! To get back in the saddle, I have offered two free ads for this issue online and I do understand that not everyone is online. ENTERING DRAWINGS TO ME ENTERING DRAWINGS ISN'T AS MUCH FUN AS HAVING YOUR OWN BUT I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE MANY OUT THERE WHO WOULD DISAGREE WITH ME . . . THEREFORE, I AM INCLUDING A BRIEF SECTION ON ENTERING DRAWINGS.
Decide which drawings to enter (probably the hardest part)! Don't "expect" to win. You are NOT the ONLY entrant! Keep donations, reasonable, affordable and fun! Add a friendly note if time permits - I know I always appreciate them!

HOLDING DRAWINGS - BASIC GUIDELINES

Decide on a drawing date! Give people a minimum of two weeks to respond - allow for delays with the mail. Decide on the prize(s) - Keep it reasonable as well as affordable. for best results, I recommend offering at least two. Decide on entry method - most are done at dime value. This means 10 entries for every dollar value received. Place your ad - make it as clear as possible. Pretend you are a new refunder reading it for the very first time! Wait and collect your entries. You can make them as you go or you can wait and do all your entries at the endof your drawing BUT have an organizational system in place PRIOR to the end of your drawing. PICK YOUR WINNERS! tO ME, THIS IS THE fun Part but I always wish more people could win! SEND IN YOUR WINNERS NAMES - This way everyone who entered can see that the prize has been issued! TRY IT JUST ONCE - YOU WILL SEE HOW EASY IT IS AND BE HOOKED INSTANTLY! LASTLY, if this is your FIRST drawing - STATE IT!! This is one area where people like to try new things!

ENTRY METHOD As mentioned, most entries are done at "dime value" which means that for every entry you have - you assign it a dollar vallue and most of it is based on your judgement. However, for clarity we will use more obvious examples. (This is in addition to their original "Free" entry!
Someone sends you $1.00 for your drawing you have advertised at "dime value" you would give this person 10 entries. At "quarter value it would be 4 entries and so forth. Someone sends you $1.00 for your drawing you have advertised at "dime value" AND "postage counts". You would give them 10 entries PLUS you would give them additional entries for the postage they used to mail their entries to you. If they used a 44 cent stamp then it would be an additional 4-5 entries. In this example, they would get 14-15 entries for that dollar that was sent to you! Someone sends you $1.00 for your drawing you have advertised at "dime value", "postage counts AND "loves doubled"! For this one we are going to say that in your ad that you put "loves cash and stamps and loves are doubled". For this one they would get their 14-15 entries (the original 10 for the dollar, the 4-5 for the stamp they used to mail it to you) PLUS they would get an additional 10 because they sent you one of your "loves". Therefore, to summarize they would get 24-25 entries. This may seem a little complicated but it really is not - especially once you get started!

CREATING THE ENTRIES

Everyone has a different system. Some are more advanced while others are a bit more profound. I personally prefer the basic way and this involves using a roll of movie tickets which are available in the stationary aisle at Wal-Mart or local statiionary store. If a person has ten entries, I tear off ten tickets and put their first and last name onn each ticket and throw them into a jar. ALWAYS keep the 3x5 card as it has their contact/preference info on it should they be selected the winner. Once again, I encourage you to come up with different ideas and try them until you find one that works for you. On the entry method it could prove to be fun and time saving to get your kids involved! Now go out there and HAVE FUN - SEE YOU AT THE MAILBOX!
