Browsing Related y How do I search the database? o Searching the database is as simple as using Google. You just type what you are looking for. I see certain panels on the left side of the Search page. What are these? o These are filters available to help you in further filtering your search keywords. For example if you are searching for NTPC,  Sector: The filter will show the sector names along with the number of results found in each one.  Context Type: This filter will help you in identifying the context like Deals, Finance, clearances, etc. The options available will change according to the search keywords.  Organisations / Project names: This will highlight the names of the organization / project names which are associated with the Search keyword.  Year: This will help you in shortlisting a project according to a certain year.  Geography: This will help you in shortlisting a project according to Geography. For example, in this case, searching for NTPC will give you options like Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, etc. where NTPC is most active.  Project Type: The project type indicate the project type like Refinery, Coal Bed Methane, Captive coal block, etc. o How the filters on the left panel work?  These filters work according to Search keyword.  Every selection that you will make will change all the other filters to make them aligned with your recent selection. For example if you find 5000 items in power sector for all the Geographies. However, when you select a particular state say Andhra Pradesh, the number of items under Power Sector would come down to say 1200.  You can select multiple filters under each heading.  You can filters multiple filters under multiple headings.  Every time, the revised count of number of articles found are displayed. There used to be a tree menu based document arrangement system? Does it no longer exist? o It will exist only for documents updated till September 1, 2011. Thereafter, all the documents will be updated in the new system. If ever, you want to refer to the old documents, the existing system would stay as it is. Why you are moving from tree menu based document arrangement system? o Because the world has moved from a University Library type document arrangement system to a Google kind of system. You can use Time range filter on right hand side to specify a broader / narrower time range. Why am I getting older items first? I want to see the latest items at the top. o Search results are displayed By Relevance by default. o Search by Relevance and by Time are two mutually exclusive concepts. For example, a document may be exactly matching your requirement but may be a year old. Another item, which may not match that much, but is new. In this case, all search engines (including google) are designed to show you the most relevant results first. However, you can always specify if you want to see the results sorted by time. There is a panel called Sort by Time on the right top. You can select a narrower range. However, even in this narrower range, we put the most relevant result at the top. How can I remove the mismatch in dates? o You notice the mismatch in the dates because the Search Engine puts the most relevant result on the top for the selected date range. I see news items mixed with the database items. Can I see them separately? o Yes. In the dropdown menu which says Everything, along with the Search Box, you can make your choice. While searching database, it also shows items from newsletter, why so? o We have removed the boundaries between the database and the news to give you an integrated and the most relevant results.
