We truly believe that we did choose great characters that not just have a diverse ethnic background, but different practical experiences as well. As a representative of your country you get the chance to deal intensively with the crucial topic Whistleblowing - A New Competition for Journalists?. You get to share your thoughts, specialise your knowledge and put your own skills to the test. The convention enables to expose yourself to a new media branch and to mingle with people from all over Europe. Four days might not be enough, but we are sure that you will manage every given task and develop. We are really looking forward to it. Let the convention begin! Your EYMC 2011 Team

The Friedrich- Ebert - Foundation (FES) is a 1925 foundet political foundation associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the oldest political foundation in Germany. Nowadays the the FES aimes to practice political and societal education, promote democracy and enable young people the opportunity to study and do research through grants. The European Youth Press (EYP) is an umbrella association of young journalists in Europe. It involves more than 48,000 journalists younger than 30. As a European network of young media makers, EYP has 20 members: 18 national organizations and 2 international media organizations. The European Youth Press has organized numerous events for young journalists and has promoted the role of youth media and the freedom of the press in Europe. EYP also takes part in discussions about journalistic education standards and media policies throughout the European Union. The EYP sees itself as serving the national structures through the development and coordination of projects organized by young media makers in Europe. EYP provides contact forums and educational seminars for multipliers of the member associations. Above all, the aim of all member associations and of EYP is to inspire young people to become involved in the media and take an active part in civil society by fostering objective and independent journalism. Young people write for young people - and give topics a young perspective; a perspective which is sometimes overlooked when examining European issues. EYP wants to contribute to the intercultural ex- change in Europe by facilitating direct contacts between young journalists through international projects and events. More than just words. The Youth Press of Germany (JPD) is the national network of and for young media makers. The JPD supports and empowers young journalists in their work, offers education programmes with more than 300 courses each year, and organises unique congresses such as the Youth Media Days, where generations of media professionals meet. The German Youth Press honours the best school student magazines in an annual nation-wide competition of student-made papers. The JPD als provides a variety of services ranging from the Youth Press Card to di- verse opportunities for gaining journalistic experience. All in all 10.000 young media makers are reached through our work, which is largely done on a voluntary basis - by young people for young people. For more information, please visit jugendpresse.de.

Communication in Social and Economic Contexts B.A. in Berlin Last year I helped to carry some camera equipment to the FES building. When I came to pick them up at the end of the convention, I saw the presentations of results. They were so impressive, that I thought I have to join the convention in 2011. EYMC 2011

From Airport Berlin Tegel: Take the Bus TXL to U Turmstrae. Switch to Bus 187 in the direction of Halbauer Weg and get off at An der Urania. From Airport Schnefeld: Take the Bus SXF1. Get off at S Sdkreuz Bhf. Switch to Bus M46 in the direction of S+U Zoologischer Garten and get off at An der Urania. From Hauptbahnhof: Take the Bus 245 in the direction of U Turmstr.. Get off at Alt-Moabit/Rathenower Str. and switch to Bus 187 in the direction off Halbauer Weg. Get off at An der Urania.

You can enter your rooms from 3pm on - please let us know when you arrive! Motel One provides us with free internet access as well.

Check-In
As soon as you arrived at the Hotel, you will get checked-in and have some time for yourself to prepare for the evening and to get to know the other participants.

Exploring Berlin

Guided tour through Berlin: Political Berlin and Cold War History Duration: 2,5 hours On this walking tour the focal point is political importance of Berlin in history, especially during the cold war, but also in present and future. You will see the old and new Government Quarter, the area around the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charly.
