CONCLUSION AND FUTURE WORK

The mechanism of the CW-TCP/IP stack for small embedded system is described. CWTCP/IP processes the TCP and IP protocols using the simple CCB data structure and uses the TCP Veno congestion control algorithm to increase the wireless network performance. In addition, CW-TCP/IP was developed to be processor- and OS independent, so it has high portability. Currently it can be ported as a kernel module mode to various embedded systems that use Linux. The object code of CW-TCP/IP is about one-sixth the size of Linux TCP/IP and one-third the size of C/TCP-IP, respectively. Therefore, CW-TCP/IP can more easily be ported to an embedded system with very limited memory resources. To compare the wireless network performance of CW-TCP/IP, Linux TCP/IP and C/TCP-IP, we measured the bandwidth and the CPU utilization of CW-TCP/IP. The CW-TCP/IP has the highest bandwidth CW-TCP/IP has lower average CPU utilizations than Linux Reno and LinuxVeno, respectively. In future work, experiments can be performed using various wireless interfaces such as 802.11n and WiMAX and compare the performance of CW-TCP/IP with other TCP/IP stacks of small embedded OSes such as eCos, FreeRTOS and TinyOS. Based on the experimental results, we will improve the performance of the CW-TCP/IP.
