PRESS RELEASE Issued: 8th September 2011 - For Immediate Release OBJECTS FOR LIVING - New dining-ware and

modern aesthetics from a British Designer Maker launched at LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL 2011
New tableware and dining-ware is launched at London Design Festival this year from designer maker and silversmith Victoria Delany. Working with precious metals, mixed with natural materials, Delany offers up a serving of new aesthetics at Origin - the Contemporary Craft Fair alongside exhibiting at Gallery S O, during the festival this September. Aimed at the private collector, bespoke hotelier and top restauranteur, Victoria wants a user to enjoy an engaging eating and dining experience with the object. This Autumn, Victoria Delany Designs collections feature a new softly-nished brass version of the already successful Candlestack, a precious candlestick made from hand turned base with interchangable timber shapes strung along the spindle.

Warmly-toned brass Candlestacks are new additions to Victoria Delany Designs range for 2011, featuring brass spun in Shefeld, a mono-chromatic colour option, and a wider top to t tea lights.

Alongside this at Origin, making a dramatic statement according to Elle Decoration UK at Origin are the perforated, folded and powder-coated Moire vessels. An edit of Delanys totally bespoke service will include hand-forged silver spoons and a sterling silver cutlery range on show for the rst time at the event.

Shaped from aluminum, Delanys Moire vessels reference industrial processes; perforated symmetry, rivets and powder-coated enamel are used to create a set of modern containers. # # # # I play with ideas and images of an object, the perceptions surrounding it or the material. I need to have a reason for creating it anew, for someone to want it. Be that if it provokes thought or feeling, says something about the material or history of the object. I dont believe in making things just for the sake of it.

Working with existing collections to create craft based collections for arts and cultural organisations including the Rothschild collection at Waddesdon Manor, and the Black Country Living Museum, Delany makes new heirlooms with old design references using contemporary technologies and hand-craft techniques. Exhibiting at Gallery S O, London, Delanys work can also be seen as part of Silverwhere? A Selected Showcase of Makers recently graduated from the Royal College of Art for the London Design Festival 2011. On show are table mats and a table cloth featuring printed imagery and pattern inspired by design from period silver chargers upon which sit a series of reflective metal vessels.
