The home renovation team is still hard at work trying to finish the renovation. With cooperation from the weatherman it should conclude by early October. However, funds are extremely low with some large purchases coming up. Please search your heart and consider making a donation to offset these expenses. A gift of $20, $50, $100 or more would go a long way toward covering the needed materials. Put cash donations in an envelope labeled Home Renovation or place the same designation on the memo line for check contributions. These may be sent to the church office or placed in the offering plate. Thanks to all who have given already or will be giving and know that God is using these funds to make for a safer more comfortable life for the family.

Denbigh Presbyterian PrePre-Kindergarten

September has flown by, and our students are really starting to get into the school routine. Were ready to have some new experiences in October - chapel and music class, a visit from the police department and the fire truck, and our Halloween parade. There are lots of exciting things going on at DPPK! I would like to extend a special thanks to those of you in the congregation who have helped us get off to such a great start. Liz Marshall, Lisa Canaday, Lana Tuftie, and several members of the youth group helped with some of our annual play yard clean up. They even came out for a couple of hours on short notice after the clean up was delayed by Hurricane Irene. Don Harvey and David Canaday helped open and then replace a broken door knob on one of our classrooms. The aesthetics team picked a wonderful paint color for the Pre-K bathrooms. It is unbelievable what a difference it has made in brightening up those spaces. Bob Murphy replaced the ballast in a light fixture in our Pre-K office, with Rosemary there for moral support! Thank you to the Fellowship Committee for arranging the delicious cookie and dessert reception after Pre-K Sunday, and to the congregation for the gifts given to our families and staff. Finally, Wanda Hale is always there to help me with any question or problem that arises. Thanks to everyone specifically named here, and to everyone else who stops to check in, says hello, donates Campbells labels, or prays for the work we are doing here. I sincerely appreciate it! Maggie Vincelette DPPK Director

Thank you to all the wonderful bakers and helpers in our DPC family who helped pull off Pre-K Recognition Day. It was just right. We had plenty of cookies, and plenty of "eaters"; perfect combination. And.... to all of you who may be wondering just what we're talking about.... Our Fellowship Committee gets to feed our Congregation, care for the kitchen, entertain our guests for many events, among so many other opportunities! If you feel a calling to pitch in, even for one or two events, contact me, and/or use the Time and Talent survey to get your name on our volunteer list. Becky Skaar, Fellowship Chair

Please read the inserts in your bulletin for information about this offering. Time and Talent surveys will be on the kitchen counter this coming Sunday. Please pick up your copy and fill it out. After this week the forms will be mailed. This is the best way for the church to know in what areas you would like to serve, and it is the best way for you to know you are needed. Stewardship Commitment Sunday will be celebrated on November 6. Our church has had a wonderful 50 year history. Many of you have been asked to write memories from your life in this church. Others have been asked to find old members, identify people in old pictures, and you may see old friends. As you think back over the past 50 years, think about the opportunities for the next 50 yearscommunity involvement, missions, opportunities for our youth, and many more. The future will depend upon you.
