MASTER OF ENGINEERING SCIENCE Course Code 304254 With the recent focus on climate change and a growing demand for renewable energy sources, there has never been a better time to update your qualifications in renewable energy power systems and move into this growing industry.
This course provides advanced training in renewable energy engineering for graduates in electrical engineering or in a closely related field. The program encompasses the power conditioning aspects of major renewable energy technologies, including wind, solar photovoltaic and small hydro. Alternative energy sources such as hydrogen fuel cells are also evaluated. The course covers power electronics and grid integration, distribution, protection, storage and utilisation of renewable energy systems. It also addresses financial and economic constraints. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to study the practical aspects of renewable energy, micro grid and smart grid technologies through a unique, state-of-theart teaching and research laboratory, the Green Electric Energy Park which will be commissioned and operational by ,

GRADUATE PROFIlE
tunKu niZar lecturer, Malaysian university
As part of my employment, I was selected as a pioneer to complete a renewable energy course. It was a good course - the subjects were relevant, the assignments related to real world applications, and the lecturers were very helpful and experts in their area. I increased my knowledge of the renewable energy sector, and in addition to this, I was able to observe the implementation of solar and wind energy systems in Australia, especially in Western Australia. This really increased my interest and desire to become directly involved in renewable energy applications, and I hope to eventually become an expert in the area - especially in solar and wind power systems.
reaL worLd praCtiCe Students enrolled in the Renewable Energy Electrical Power Systems program will also have access to the state-ofthe-art Green Electricity Energy Park (GEEP) due to be completed in 2012. This hands-on laboratory facility is unique in Western Australia. With the establishment of GEEP, industry interest is increasing and will lead to greater involvement with the program, particularly through providing industry-relevant projects. domestiC students Australian citizens, Humanitarian Visa Holders, Permanent Residents and New Zealand Citizens are eligible for Commonwealth supported places in this Master program. Australian citizens are also eligible for HECS-HElP enabling them to defer their payments to their Tax File Number or receive 20% discount on any amounts over $500 if they choose to pay the fees upfront.
internationaL students International students studying in Australia on a student visa can only study full-time and there are also specific entry requirements that must be met.
