Sang nagligad sang Domingo ang Wings sang Parokya may front cover of a funny cartoon : Noahs Ark. (I Peter 3:20). (II Peter 2:5). The greatest deeper meaning of the story of Noahs ark is one of Gods judgement on that evil, wicked world, and His special love and concern for Noah and his family. Even in Gods great wrath, He brought mercy He spared these few, a remnant from that old world, and did not completely destroy everything. The story also brings a warning of future judgment upon the Earth. As the apostle Peter points out, in the future the world will

again be destroyed. Meanwhile there are scoffers who think that everything continues as it always has yet they deliberately forget that the world was once destroyed by a great flood. See 2 Peter 2:5. The Ark of Noah also represents baptism, the waters which saved Noah and his family. See 1 Peter 3:20 - 21. Sa funny cartoon sang nagligad nga isyu sang Wings, ano buot hambalon sang woodpecker? If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization Lawyers and woodpeckers have long bills. Proverb Christian Symbolism The woodpecker is a bird with strong claws and a stiff tail adapted for climbing and a hard chisel-like bill for boring into wood for insects. The Woodpecker Christian Symbol represents Satan because of its destructive nature. A Christian Symbol or Icon such as the Woodpecker is an object, character, figure, or color used to represent abstract ideas or concepts a picture that represents an idea. A Christian symbol or icon is an image or symbolic representation such as the Woodpecker with sacred significance which can manifest itself in a dream. Christian symbols and symbolism which can appear in a dream often contain a moral or religious lesson or allegory as explained in the Biblical and Christian Dream Dictionary.

Saint Anne. In the seventh century, the feast was celebrated by the Byzantines and at Rome as the feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The feast is also celebrated by Syrian Christians on 8 September and by Coptic Christians on 9 May. The traditional date of this feast is on September 8. It falls exactly nine months after the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. In celebrating the nativity of Mary, we Christians anticipate the Incarnation and birth of her Divine Son, and give honor to the mother of Our Lord and Savior. Perhaps, we could surmise it is because of its close proximity to the feast of the Assumption of Mary, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is not celebrated today with the same solemnity as the Immaculate Conception. It is, nonetheless, a very important feast in our faith practice, because it prepares the way for the birth of Christ the Savior of the world. In the Eastern Church, an ancient hymn is offered to Mary during the Feast of her birth which I believed is worthy to be contemplated by us. Your birth, O Theotokos, brought joy to the whole world, for from you dawned the sun of righteousness, Christ our God. Freeing us from the curse, He gave us His blessings. Abolishing death, He granted us eternal life. In your holy birth, Immaculate One, Joachim and Anna were rid of the shame of childlessness; Adam and Eve of the corruption of death. And so your people, free of the guilt of their sins, celebrate crying: The barren one gives birth to the Theotokos, who nourishes our life.
We pray Thee, O Lord, grant to Thy servants the gift of heavenly grace: as the childbearing of the blessed Virgin was the beginning of our salvation, so may the devout celebration of her Nativity accord us an increase of peace.

REV. FR. GERARDO P. ARROYO, PAROCHIAL VICAR

Todays Feast is one of the only three birthdays honored in the Roman Catholic Churchs liturgical year. The other feasts are those of St. John the Baptist and that of Jesus Christ Himself. Nobody knows exactly when and how this Feast of the Nativity of Mary started. One Christian tradition says that this feast started when St. Romanos the Melodist known as a composer of many hymns is feast spread to Rome in the seventh century, but it was a couple more centuries before it was celebrated throughout the West. An ancient Christian tradition, however, says that the source of the story of the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary is found in the Protoevangelium of James, an apocryphal gospel written about A.D. 150. It is also from this source that we learn the names of Marys parents were Joachim and Anna. They, as this tradition would say, were childless until an angel appeared to Anna and told her that she would conceive. This also appeared in later apocryphal Gospel of the Nativity of Mary. Another likely source says that this feast, like that of the Assumption of Mary, originated in Jerusalem. It began in the fifth century as the feast of the basilica Sanctae Mariae ubi nata est, now the Basilica of

iya pagkatawo. We do not usually celebrate the birthdays of the saints. Instead we celebrate the day they died, because that is the day they were born into the joys of heaven. But the birthday of Mary, our Blessed Mother, is an exception. We do celebrate her birthday because she came into this world full of grace and because she was to be the Mother of Jesus. Ginasiling pa gid: The birth of Our Lady was like a dawn. When the sky starts to turn a rosy pink early in the morning, we know the sun will soon come up. In the same way, when Mary was born, she brought great happiness to the world. Her birth meant that soon Jesus, the Sun of justice, would appear. Mary was the wonderful human being whose privilege it was to bring the Lord Jesus to all people. Even today, if we have Mary, we have Jesus. Whoever is very devoted to her is very close to the heart of Jesus. Sa aton pagpamalandong: Today, we celebrate and proclaim with joy to the whole world the birth of the Virgin Mary. We can always turn to Mary for help. She is very close to the heart of Jesus. What special intention can I ask her today? On her birthday, let us ask the intercession of our Blessed Mother that God may always bless, guide and protect us. Happy Birthday Mama Mary! Amen.

ANG PAGKATAWO SANG MAHAL NGA BIRHEN MARIA

PIESTA NGA ADLAW: SEPTIEMBE 8

Henry Mota, Special Feature

FRATERNAL CORRECTION
4 September [23rd Sunday in Ord. time] Mt 18:15-20
If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. The Lord corrects the one he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights (Proverbs 3:12). We all have painful memories of being corrected, where the correction was an expression of superiority or control or anger or impatience or a critical spirit or indeed anything but love. In a word, when there is ego in it, it is guaranteed to harm you in the end, even if it alters your behaviour in the short term. The ego doesnt know how to love, and therefore it doesnt know how to correct. If you love someone, the love itself corrects them, quite often without your having to say a word. We all have memories too of being corrected with love: when someone, out of genuine goodness and concern, took us aside and put a respectful and loving word in our ear. Many years ago a colleague stayed up with me till 4 a.m., to put me on a better path. There was not a hint of ego in it from start to finish, and it was one of the most fruitful experiences of my life. That kind of correction cannot be an over-the-shoulder thing, it can only come from a life of love. If you dont love people dont try to correct them, leave it to someone who can do it. When the situation is a personal matter between the two of you it is more difficult. Point out the fault when the two of you are alone, Jesus said. Dont humiliate the other by hauling out your difference in public. That would introduce all kind of additional complications: the other person is more likely to become defensive in order to save face, and will suspect you of trying to gang-up. A still more cowardly way is to criticize the other in his or her absence. This way all avenues of reconciliation are closed and the ego can have it all its own way. To say nothing at all can be equally bad, if the hurt then turns into silent resentment and coldness. When the offence is against other people, there is a new set of rules especially if innocent people are being secretly victimized. Here there is no room for secrecy. The Church has learned this sharp lesson in recent years as the many cases of physical and sexual abuse of children come to light. I have made you a sentinel for the house of Israel, says the first reading of todays Mass. A sentinel is someone who keeps watch. If you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but their blood I will require at your hand. These words must now be ringing in the ears of many whose responsibility was to keep watch in the Church. Sometimes love does not look like love at all. Love is stronger than death, and a doctor who refused to operate when it was necessary would not be acting in the patients interest. Psychotherapists talk about tough love, and even in one-to-one situations this sometimes becomes necessary. But nonetheless it is love. In the second reading at todays Mass St Paul wrote, All the commandmentsare summed up in this single commandment: You must love your neighbor as yourself. It isthe answer to every one of the commandments.
