ORATIO IMPERATA

Medyo sala man gali ang akon bug-os nga panulok.

Daw wala man kabuhi mangin parte na sang amon nagasinanto nga pagkaon kag pagpangabuhi.

Taga-i sila sang imo pagpatawad, kasulhayan kag kabakod. Ginapangamuyuan man namon maghambal sa pari.

Giyahe sila o Ginuo sang imo kamatuoran kag kaalam. Kabay pa palanggaon nila kag proteksyonan ang pamilya, bantayan kag respetohon ang kabuhi.

Magmanginmabuot nga katulad sang pating apang magmanginalamanon katulad sang man-og.

O Maria manugpatigayon sang tanan nga Grasya, Reyna sang Pamilya. Ig-ampo mo kami. San Jose, nagtindug nga Amay ni Hesus kag Putli nga Bana ni Maria, Ig-ampo mo kami. Amen.

REFLECTION ON THE READINGS OF THE 26TH SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME YR. A _________________
REV. FR. GERARDO P. ARROYO, PAROCHIAL VICAR
St. Augustine once said God who made us without us wont save us without us. Augustines statement denotes that salvation is the consequence of the work of God and the work of man. In his love for us, it is God who puts in most of the work proving His determination to save us. Yet, each one of us must put in his/her share in the work. Refusing to do it does not only hinder Gods action but get lost in the process. Along this vein, we may ask ourselves the question, What is then the basic demand that God makes of us as a condition to save us? We cannot always determine with accuracy what God is demanding from us. We have Gods revelation as taught to us by the Church. It must be obeyed by us. Our life is a constant search for the will of God. St. Matthew says: Not all who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who does the will of my Father in heaven. We must do our best then, in spite our weakness, to carry out in our lifetime whatever plans God has laid down for us. This and only this assures us of our salvation. Our attitude then is very important. It must be attuned at all times to the will of God. St. Paul in the second reading tells us that our attitude must be like that of Jesus. who although he was in the form of God did not deemed equality with God Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of slave. Coming in human likeness, he humbled himself becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. In the first reading, the Israelites were exiled because of their unfaithfulness to God. But he did not abandon them. Instead, He sent Ezekiel to them who appealed to them to repent and turn back to him. The time for them to return home is near. Instead of heeding Gods call to repentance they accused God of sending them to exile. They turned the table on God, so to say. According to them God is arbitrary. They were punished for the sins their forefathers committed. Yet, God is so compassionate with them. In effect, God tells them that His plan for them is not to punish them but to save them. God then saves those who do his will. We, however, must say yes to God not so much with our lips but more with our deeds. This is the message behind the parable of the two sons told by Jesus in todays gospel. When Jesus narrated the parable to his listeners what he has in mind were the Pharisees and sinners of all sorts who were with the crowd then. The Pharisees were like the son who said yes to his father with his lips but disobeyed him with their conduct. The Pharisees boasted of being Gods Chosen People but when invited to the Kingdom by repenting of their sins they rejected Gods invitation. On the other hand, the tax collectors, prostitutes and sinners were the people doomed to hell. They were, however, like the other son who said no but later changed his mind. They were wrong when they said no to God who ordered them to follow his precepts; when they, however, were invited later to repentance by John immediately they said yes. Jesus, in effect, is saying that the sincere yes to John and to me makes up for their earlier disobedience. Turning once more to St. Paul, he asserts to his converts in Philippi that there is no better model for us in the sphere of obedience than Jesus himself. The whole earthly life of Jesus is a YES to his heavenly Father even at the cost of his life. He did this first when he became man in Marys womb. This was his expression to do his Fathers will. The Letter to the Hebrews is an attestation to this truth: Behold, I have come to do Your will. (Heb 10:7) To the Christians in Philippi, St Paul writes, that Jesus by becoming man made himself not just as a servant but a slave. (Phil2:7) In the Gospel of St. Matthew Jesus speaks of himself to be service to his Father, Doing the will of the Father is the food that sustains me and also to us all. This service does not belong to the realm of the commonplace but of the extraordinariness for Jesus went up to the extent of giving his life for the salvation of all men. As a final exclamation, Jesus said His most heroic affirmative to his Father will when he gave up his life by accepting death on the cross. In full sincerity before dying he uttered the words: It is finished, Consumatum est. (Jn.19:30). In effect, Jesus says Father, of all that You sent me to do in the world, nothing has left undone. All these yes of Jesus should spur us to say our YES to God throughout our life. This, in turn, will ensure a joyful yes by Jesus when at our death we knock at the door of heaven. He will open it wide for us to enter and be with him forever.

San Vicente Ferrer, ig-ampo mo kami!

PUNGSUDNON NGA ADLAW SANG MGA MARINERO

(NATIONAL SEAFARERS DAY) ___________________
Henry Mota, Special Feature

Ini nga selebrasyon ginapangunahan sang Apostleship of the Sea, isa sa mga matawag naton nga kamot sang CBCPs Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI), the Church will particularly pray for seafarers still languishing in jails, and for the families of those who died. Ini pa gid ang ginasiling sang Simbahan: Let us remember our Filipino seafarers who an account of their particular employment at sea are often deprived of the grace and comfort of the Eucharistic celebration. We pray for their safety and for the grace of the Spirit so that the bonds of love and unity with their families may remain strong inspite of their

physical separation. May they remain steadfast in their faith and become witnesses of the values of Christian living in all circumstances. Subong man ang ahensya sang aton gobyeno nagasiling: The National Seafarers Day celebration is an annual national event decreed through a presidential proclamation and observed since 1997. By Presidential Decree No. 828, President Fidel V. Ramos instituted the National Seafarers day on August 18, now celebrated on the last Sunday of September following the subsequent Presidential Decree No. 1094. Ginasiling pa gid: The Philippines is considered as the major supplier of maritime labor globally. Per POEA data, there were 330,404 Filipino seafarers deployed abroad comprising almost 30 percent of the global maritime labor force. The number of deployed Filipino seafarers has decreased from 2006 (274,497), 2007 (266,553) to 2008 (261,614) but increased in 2009 (330,404) while the dollar remittances have been constantly increasing from US$1.9B in 2006, US$2.2B in 2007, US$3.034B in 2008 to US$3.4B in 2009. The NSD celebration also highlights the valuable contribution of the seafaring industry in the socioeconomic condition of the Philippines as a nation. The program intends to recognize first and foremost the tireless and courageous efforts of Filipino seafarers to uplift themselves and their families, as well as contribute to nationwide economic growth. The NSD celebration seeks to involve likewise other agencies and institutions that support the industry, such as manning agencies, maritime academic institutions, government, and non-government organizations. Huo, medyo daku man ang ila makita apang sobra man kabudlay.

You deserve respect, recognition and gratitude for your invaluable contribution to the national development efforts of our country. You have become sailing ambassadors of our country for having demonstrated before the global maritime community the best traits of the Filipino. When He chose His first disciples, he knew seafarers were special. Sa aton pagsaulog sini nga adalw para sa aton mga utod nga marinero, Let us once again remember to pray for our Filipino seafarers who brave the high seas for the love of their families; they who help sustain the countrys economy; and they are our countrys ambassadors and for our Christian faith on board. Let us pray that this years theme Marinong Pilipino:Lakas ng Pag-asa! may motivate them to be united in their effort in obtaining a just safe, and humanitarian conditions on board. Ang aton pangamuyo sa ila amo ini: May all seafarers and their families remain strong and faithful in times of temptation, loneliness and personal anxieties. May prayer and Christian love be the unbreakable bond that unites them in spirit and affection. May the families of seafarers still in captivity be comforted from fear and anxiety and seafarers who were victims of piracy may be healed from their emotional trauma and may receive proper assistance to their needs for them to go on with life.

May the Lord bless and prosper the ministry of priests, religious, and lay people of the Apostleship of the Sea who dedicate their services to seafarers in ports throughout the world. May our seafarers who have ended their earthly voyage through accident or sickness may be part of the heavenly family receive the prize of a good life in the company of Abraham, the angels, and the saints in heavens, and that the families they leave behind may be comforted by the thought of reunion in that eternal home. Saint Nicholas: Patron of seafarers, pray for them.

Prayer for Seafarers Heavenly Father: we pray to you for those on the perilous ocean that you will embrace them with your mighty protection and grant them success in all their rightful undertakings. Grant them in all hours of need to see that they have a God who remembers them, and grant them grace in the hour of danger to commit their souls into your hands. O Lord Jesus Christ, who can rebuke the storm and bring it to silence, and lay the roaring waves to rest, show them who call to you out of the deep that you hear their prayer and will save them. And finally bring us all to the only safe port. Amen. Prayer of a Seafarer O God, I ask you to take me into your care and protection along with all those who sail in ships. Make me alert and wise in my duties. Make me faithful in the time of routine, and prompt to decide and courageous to act in any time of crisis. Protect me in the dangers and the perils of the sea; and even in the storm grant that there may be peace and calm within my heart. When I am far from home and far from loved ones and far from the country which I know, help me to be quite sure that, wherever I am, I can never drift beyond your love and care. Take care of my loved ones in the days and weeks and months when I am separated from them, some times with half the world between them and me. Keep me true to them and keep them true to me, and every time
