The Story
ightning McQueen is a hotshot rookie racecar, driven to become the youngest car ever to win the coveted Piston Cup
Championship. When he does, the fame, money and groupies he’s been dreaming of will finally be his. But when the
high-octane contest ends in an unprecedented three-way tie, McQueen jumps on the interstate towards California
where a tie-breaking race will determine the ultimate winner.
When McQueen’s impatience causes him to get separated from his driver, he gets lost and panics. Alone, he struggles
to find the interstate and tears through the forgotten Route 66 town of Radiator Springs, demolishing the town’s main
street in the process. With the race just days away, McQueen is arrested and forced to slow down for the first time in
his life. His sentence: to repair the road he has destroyed before he can leave.
McQueen’s detour into dusty, old Radiator Springs introduces him to a life beyond trophies, fame and sponsorships.
As he gets to know the town’s offbeat characters he learns the importance of teamwork and friendship and discovers
that life is about the journey, not the finish line. When McQueen’s old life catches up with him, he is challenged to
reconsider the car he wants to be. In an action-packed finale, McQueen discovers what it takes to be a true champion.

The Cars
Sally
Sally is a beautiful 2002 Porsche 911 from California who grew tired of
life in the fast lane and made a new start in the small town of Radiator
Springs. Charming, intelligent and witty, she is the town attorney and the
car most dedicated to preserving and reviving the town with the hopes
that one day it will get “back on the map” again. If that weren’t enough
to keep her busy, Sally is also the proprietor of the Cozy Cone Motel,
which she lovingly restored to its former Highway 66 glory, complete
with her own collection of caution cone collectibles. McQueen doesn’t
understand Sally’s dedication to her Radiator Springs family until she
helps show him that there is more to life than trophies and fame.
Lightning McQueen
Lightning McQueen is a hotshot rookie racecar, poised to become the youngest car
ever to win the Piston Cup Championship. He has just two things on his mind: winning
and the perks that come with it. Fame, money, groupies, helicopters… it’s everything
he’s dreamed of, but that’s about to change. When McQueen gets lost in the forgotten
town of Radiator Springs, he’s introduced to a group of new friends that challenge him
to reconsider the car he wants to be.
Mater
Mater is a good ol’ boy tow truck with a big heart and the only tow truck in Radiator Springs. Though a
little rusty, he has the quickest towrope in Carburetor County and is always the first to lend a helping hand.
Mater sees the bright side of any situation. He’s the sweetest, most loyal guy in town and the first to
befriend McQueen. Mater doesn’t care about McQueen’s many flaws; all he sees is a potential new best
friend. Mater is the self- proclaimed world’s best backwards driver. When he’s not running “Tow-Mater
Towing and Salvage” or managing the local impound lot, Mater gets a kick out of tractor tipping.

Doc Hudson The Cars
Doc Hudson is a 1951 Hudson Hornet, a seemingly quiet country doctor
(mechanic) with a mysterious past. A cornerstone of Radiator Springs, Doc
runs the local medical clinic and serves as town judge. Though he’s a car of
few words, Doc is respected and admired by the townsfolk for the way he
looks out for their health and tends to their aches and pains. Unimpressed
by McQueen’s cocky attitude, Doc wants nothing to do with the flashy
racecar. McQueen discounts Doc as just an old grandpa car, but the twinkle
in Doc’s eye hides his secret. Doc ends up teaching McQueen lessons
he can apply both on and off the track.
Fillmore
Fillmore is a 1960 VW Bus and Radiator
Springs’ resident hippie. A believer in
individuality and all things natural,
he brews his own organic fuel
and preaches its many benefits.

Sarge geodesic dome. His many
Sarge is a 1942 WW2 Willy’s Army Jeep, a patriotic veteran to the core. He proudly flies conspiracy theories and
the Stars and Stripes and begins each day with a rousing rendition of Reveille. If he’s not “naturally” unkempt yard
busy running the local army surplus store, Sarge’s Surplus Hut, he can often be found drive his neighbor Sarge,
precisely manicuring the lawn in front of his Quonset hut into a perfect flat-top. When he’s a veteran army jeep,
not working, Sarge spends his time arguing with his next-door neighbor, Fillmore, who absolutely nuts. The two
despite Sarge’s complaints, refuses to clean up “the untamed jungle he calls a front yard.” will bicker until the cows
Truth be told, Sarge knows that his life is more interesting with Fillmore in it to “question come home but truth be told,
authority.” And despite his sometimes-surly demeanor, Sarge’s bark is worse than his bite. they can’t live without each other.

The Cars
Sheriff
Sheriff is a 1949 Mercury Police Cruiser. He’s the type of cop who has had a
few too many doughnuts in his time. He is the keeper of the peace in
Radiator Springs and takes his job very seriously. Regular check-ups with his
pal Doc keep him in chasing shape, ready to catch any would-be speeders
who might want to barrel through his town. With soft, squishy tires and a
generous moustache, Sheriff enjoys telling stories about his beloved Mother
Road and taking the occasional nap behind the Radiator Springs billboard.
Luigi
Luigi is a 1959 Fiat 500 who runs the local tire shop, Luigi’s Casa della Tires, “Home of
the Leaning Tower of Tires.” A big-hearted, gregarious and excitable Italian, Luigi serves
up more than a new set of wheels for his customers; his positive energy and enthusiasm
have a natural way of rubbing off on anyone who passes through his doors. An avid
racing fan, Luigi is excited to meet McQueen -- even though he is not a Ferrari — and
eager to suit him up in a new set of white walls. Luigi and his assistant Guido, a cute little
forklift, are inseparable, and constantly bickering with one another in Italian.
Guido
Guido is a little Italian forklift, Luigi’s assistant and best friend. Like his boss, Guido
is an avid Ferrari racing fan who dreams of performing a real pit stop on a real
racecar. In fact, the only word Guido knows in English, is “pit stop.”

The Cars
Ramone
Ramone is a 1959 Impala low-rider who owns and operates Ramone’s House of Body Art,
the local custom body and paint shop. He’s married to his sweetheart of many years, Flo, a
classic show car who runs the town diner. Ramone is an artist -- a true magician with paint
and metal, but he hasn’t had anyone to paint in years. So for now, his only canvas is himself;
he re-paints himself daily. He’d love to do some work on McQueen if he ever gets his chance.
Ramone’s philosophy is cruise low and slow and look good doing it.
Red
Red is a gentle giant; a
big, strong fire engine,
who’s painfully shy and Flo
quite sensitive. When Flo is a 1950’s show car -- a sassy, no-nonsense lady, with the
he’s not cheerfully biggest heart in town. She runs the local diner, Flo’s V-8 Café, the

The Cars
The King
The King, Strip Weathers, is a 1970 Plymouth Superbird and a racing legend. He has won more Piston Cup races
than any other car in history, but has managed to keep his priorities straight. He’s a down home guy who knows
that it takes more than trophies to make a true champion. Above all else, the King values hard work, and sticking
together as a team; and he always has time for his favorite team member, his wife, the Queen. The King is planning
to retire at the end of the season and hand over his coveted sponsorship with Dinoco. All the up-and-coming racers
idolize him, especially McQueen, who would give just about anything to fill his treads.
Mack
Mack is a 1985 Mack Super-Liner and McQueen’s
trusted driver. An experienced trucker with a lot of
miles behind him, Mack has thorough knowledge of
Federal regulations, but is willing to push the limits of Chick Hicks
his own sanity and sleep to get McQueen wherever Chick Hicks is a racing veteran with a chip on his shoulder, a ruthless
he needs to go. He’s a positive guy with a loyal competitor, who has bumped and cheated his way into more second place

It’s got the grit without the grease. Not a character-driven program,

Inspired by “Route 66”-style roadsigns, business ads, posters and postcards,
RETRO ROAD takes the road to the past and turns the corner into a trend
for today. Funky character art and editorial, limited color, and designs that
echo old printing styles send a hip message to boys and older audiences:
“Having a great time in Radiator Springs. Wish you were here.”
