Attached is analysis of crime trends for the crimes of Robbery, Burglary, Theft, Simple and Aggravated Assaults that occurred in Radnor Township in 2010 and 2011 calendar year. The statistics contained within this report were compiled using the data gather from January 1, 2010 through October 10, 2010 and January 1, 2011 through October 10, 2011. The total amounts of incidents for the 2010 calendar year are noted under each category comparison. While the 2011 year-to-date statistics show a reduction in Burglaries, Assaults and Thefts we are beginning, traditionally, the busiest quarter of the calendar year. Under the category of Robbery we have remained flat with 6 robberies reported year-to-date. The robberies experienced in 2011 were more violent that ones that were committed in 2010. In 2010 we experienced 2 armed robberies: 600 Block of Heather Lane, Bryn Mawr Armed Robbery/Home Invasion Wachovia Bank 599 E. Lancaster Avenue Armed Robbery Point of Rifle. The two armed robberies were cleared by arrests with convictions. There have been 4 armed robberies, year-to-date have occurred in the Wayne section of the township all within a 2-3 block radius.
Amirian Jewleres 200 W. Lancaster Avenue Wayne August 18, 2011 4:02 PM a Hispanic male entered the store and engaged the co-owners conversation. The male perpetrator displayed a hand gun and a pepper spray canister announcing the robbery. The perpetrator sprayed the co-owners with the pepper spray in which a struggle ensued inside the store. The perpetrator fled on foot through the parking lot in which a witness gave chase until such time the perpetrator turned on the witness, and at point of gun, told the witness to stop chasing him. The witness complied and ceased chasing the perpetrator. An extensive search of the immediate area occurred, including the use of canine units, which did not yield any results. Composite drawings of the perpetrator have been completed and issued in an attempt to identify the perpetrator. Evidence of value was collected from the crime scene and has been submitted to the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Laboratory. This robbery remains under investigation by the detective unit.
