TEXAS COLLEGE DEMOCRATS 2011 FALL CONFERENCE The 2011 Fall Conference hosted by Young Democrats of the University of Texas at San Antonio proved to be an excellent time, with spectacular speakers and many useful training sessions. The Conference provided the opportunity to hear from Democratic candidates for the 2012 Election. The first of the candidate speakers was State Representative Joaquin Castro, followed by United States Representative Lloyd Doggett, both vying for the Democratic nomination for the 35th Congressional District candidacy. Further into the day, candidates Sean Hubbard and Ric Sanchez, both seeking the Democratic Nomination for the United States Senate Candidacy, spoke to attendees. The first straw poll conducted by the Texas College Democrats Executive Board made its debut at the 2011 Fall Conference, with a vote of preference of candidate vying for the partys Texas United States Senate nomination. After hearing from both candidates, students voted in the on-spot straw poll asking, "If the primary election for the U.S. Senate were held today, who would you vote for?" The polling results were 53.3% for Ric Sanchez and 46.7% for Sean Hubbard.
