FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCES COURSE PLAN SEMESTER-V MS-322 Probability and Stochastic Processes
Instructor: Abu Bakr Khan Khitran

Lectures:

As per Schedule

Required Text: Probability and Random Processes for Engineers by Leon Garcia.

References: 1. Probability, Random Variables and Stochastic Processes by Athanasios Popoulis & S. Unnikrishna Pillai. 2. Probability Random Variable and Random Signal Principles by Peyton Z. Peebles Jr. 3. Introductory Statistics - Neil A Weiss Prerequisite: None

Course Aim: The course aims to provide the thorough Analysis techniques of signal processing and control system using probability and statistics.

Objectives

Informally, a stochastic process sis a random quantity that evolves over time.

Examples of this phenomenon is widely found in electrical engineering in variety of applications like channel equalization and noise cancellation etc. The objective of this course is to introduce basic ideas and tools of the theory of stochastic processes. This course will cover the basics of probability theory and build the foundation for processing of discrete and continuous time stochastic process by Linear Time Invariant Systems.
