Introduction

Background

z Last February and May of 2004, the Institute for Nationalist


Studies (INS) have conducted 2 surveys regarding the electoral
preference of the youth.

z The results showed that PGMA did not enjoy considerable support
from the youth sector.

z After more than a year, the INS would like to determine if the level
of support of the youth has been affected by recent political
developments.

Methodology

z A survey questionnaire was formulated


to measure the mentioned objectives and
was distributed to 1,000 respondents
aged 13-35 years old within Metro Manila
from June 15 to July 1, 2005

z Results are limited to descriptive

with PGMA’s Performance?

GRADE: Passed Failed

Based on the statistical analysis conducted, most of the youth


surveyed (83%) think that PGMA did nothing for the education sector.
Only 13% think that PGMA did improved the education sector. Instead
she slashed the budget for education to its lowest level and permitted
private school-owners to increase their already high tuition fee rates.
There is a higher deficiency of teachers, classrooms, books, chairs
and tables.
Based on the statistical analysis shown previously, the youth sector
exhibits a clear evaluation of PGMA’s performance based on the different
concerns of the youth and the society. Though there was no comparison
made between choices or test how one’s choice is affected by his school and
age, there is an overwhelming accordance among the youth that there are
issues that PGMA failed to address.

More that a half of the youth perceives that PGMA failed to do her
job as shown by the 65% of the respondents who views that PGMA was not
effective and a very low
