The Scenario Recruitment Strategy for BlackGold Holdings

BlackGold Holdings is an oil and gas company. Business activities range from Exploration and Productions, Petrochemical and Gas Business, Corporate Planning and Development, Finance, Human Resources and Technical Services. The Information Resources Management Department is one of the divisions in the Technical Services group. This department handles the companys daily IT operations as well as managing new IT projects to improve the companys business process. The Human Resources Department has put in a request for an improved employees information management system with a view to integrate this with the payroll system. The Development Team from the Information Resources Management Department is planning to hire 3 new employees to assist with the project. The vacancies are for a Senior Analyst Programmer, Junior Programmer and closer to the rollout date of the new system, a Customer Support Executive. Your team has been given the responsibility to produce job descriptions for the three technical posts. What will be the duties and responsibilities for each post holder? Who will they report to on a daily basis? How much salary should be offered for each post? (You were told that the budget allocated for the salaries of this new recruitment is approximately RM110,000 per year for the three posts). Your team will also need to produce personal specifications for each post. What sorts of skills are essential and which one desirable for each post? What personal qualities are required? What sort of previous experience is essential/desirable? This will be followed by producing an advert for each post. What information will your team include in the advert to attract the very best applicants? What sort of image should your team project of the company? How should each advert be worded to grab the prospect employees attention? Your team will also need to decide on a recruitment strategy for the 3 posts outlining the steps they will take to attract, select and recruit the new post holders. Do you advertise any of the vacancies nationally? Where do you plan to advertise them? Should you use local job centers or the internet? Can the local universities help in any way? How do you want applicants to apply? How do you want to deal with applications? What are the selection criteria? Should the applicants be interviewed? Clearly with such an important project it is essential that best possible people are selected for the jobs.
