From: Sent: To: Cc: Subject: Corrington, William B Tuesday, July 12, 2011 3:25 PM McCeney, Edwin; Rakestraw, Sheryl Havely, Andrew; Montel, John H RE: FOIA Request for Cloud Computing

I have reviewed this FOIA request. There is an assumption in these questions that we were considering the cloud email system to be a records management system. This was never the case. We included an email archive capability as part of the requirements/solicitation but that was not considered to be a records management capability. That being said, here are my responses to the 12 individual requests contained in this FOIA: 1) The attached presentation describes the approach that we planned on taking with email archive for the cloudbased system. 2) This is N/A, as we did not consider the email system or the archive to be a records management system governed by NARA requirements. 3) Depending on the interpretation of this question, this is either very broad or very narrow. Since we never considered the DEVELOPMENT of a cloud email system, my interpretation of this question is that it is N/A. 4) Sameas#2. 5) Same as#2. 6) Same as #2. 7) Sameas#2. 8) Sameas#2. 9) Sameas#2. 10) Same as #2. Also, we never entered into any contract with Microsoft for the use of the Azure platform. 11) Same as #2. 12) Same as #2. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this in more detail. Thanks
