JOB DESCRIPTION
PREFACE
It is said that without theory, practice is blind and without practice theory is meaningless. Any class room coaching can be made effective if it is supplemented by practical exposure in an organization. To bridge the gap between theory and practical and for proper solution of health care problem practical knowledge is very important and to be a perfect administrator one must be well aware of practical environment. Training gives opportunity to relate theory with practical. The training gives an excellent opportunity to a student to apply and prove his ability, intellect knowledge belief arrangement, judgment, reasoning by giving solution to assigned problem which reflects his caliber. Job Description
Introduction:A job is a collection of tasks and responsibilities that an employee is responsible to conduct. Jobs have titles. A task is a typically defined as a unit of work, that is, a set of activities needed to produce some result, e.g., vacuuming a carpet, writing a memo, sorting the mail, etc. Complex positions in the organization may include a large number of tasks, which are sometimes referred to as functions. Job descriptions are lists of the general tasks, or functions, and responsibilities of a position. Job descriptions are usually developed by conducting a job analysis, which includes examining the tasks and sequences of tasks necessary to perform the job. The analysis looks at the areas of knowledge and skills needed by the job. Note that a role is the set of responsibilities or expected results associated with a job. A job usually includes several roles. Job descriptions are written statements that describe the duties, responsibilities, required qualifications, and reporting relationships of a particular job. Job descriptions are based on objective information obtained through job analysis, an understanding of the competencies and skills required to accomplish needed tasks, and the needs of the organization to produce work. Job descriptions clearly identify and spell out the responsibilities of a specific job. Job descriptions also include information about working conditions, tools, equipment used, knowledge and skills needed, and relationships with other positions. Whether you're a small business or a large, multi-site organization, well-written job descriptions will help you align employee direction. Alignment of the people you employ with your goals, vision, and mission spells success for your organization.. Job descriptions set clear expectations for what you expect from people. According to Ferdinand Fournies in Why Don't Employees Do What They're Supposed to Do and What To Do About It," (see sidebar) this is the first place to look if people aren't doing what you want them to do. He says you need to make certain that they clearly understand your expectations. This understanding starts with the job description. Job descriptions help you cover all your legal bases.
Importance:The job description is important for an effective performance evaluation process. The job description is a formal method of communicating work planning and feedback. This can help an organization identify areas of weakness of an incumbent and focus training efforts in these areas. a definite asset for wrongful termination lawsuits or claims of prejudice and/or discrimination. This is particularly valuable for recruiting as potential employees can obtain a clear understanding of the job during the interview.
Provides the Director, as well as co-workers with an understanding and appreciation for the how the job contributes to the achievement of the organization's goals.

Observations
CARE Banjara provides its Associates better working condition. Training & development of Associate is by CARE foundation for the future growth of Associate. The 1:1 nurse to bed ratio is there which is quiet good. Patients are given highest privilege. There is lack of coordination between departments like nursing, lab, dietetics etc.
Communication in patients and staff is weak due to language problem. Turn over rate of staff is high on observation. The dietetics department is congested that means the ergonomics are not proper. A kitchen dietitian is lacking in the food and beverages department. Only one food and beverages manager for Hyderabad twin cities. Size of the kitchen is small. Training and development of the kitchen staff is not proper. Language problem with the kitchen staff. Coordination with the other department is not proper. Wastage of food is high in the hostels. Administrative incompetence in the Blood bank. Delay in generating of printed reports by the laboratory department. Smooth working condition good coordination is observed in NI labs, Administration, Internal Audit, Hr department and Cath Lab. Physiotherapy department is isolated in the hospital. Equipments are outdated and insufficient in the Physiotherapy department.
Suggestions
Appointments of the staff that are well versed in regional as well as common languages like Hindi and English. Apart from that training sessions should be there for common languages. Proper exit interviews should be arranged & it should be made compulsory. If any qualified staff is leaving then conditions should be planned up to certain extent that he/ she shouldnt go and necessary changes should be made after evaluation of the working conditions and procedure.
More space should be allotted to the dietetics department as it is also one of the direct interactions with the patient. A separate kitchen dietitian should be appointed. A cold storage is necessary for the kitchen. Apart from this we have also observed that there is wastage of food in the hostels so for that refrigerator should be provided in hostels. For intradepartmental in-coordination strict rules should be made for all the employees as well as the concerned head should be trained for proper administration. Delegation of appropriate authority and responsibility to the concerned head. Time limit should be justified & described about each type of reports & should be generated accordingly. The reports generation in the lab should be fast. The physiotherapy department should be situated at a place which should not look isolated from the main building of the hospital & should be accessible easily from every department of the hospital. Physiotherapy department should be made well equipped with modern equipments the size of the department should be increased with proper cubical separation for the patient privacy
