With several expert researchers on board, we develop research tools, design methodology and conduct qualitative and quantitative research keeping abreast of the international best practices in research. Our technical research team is supported by field teams that comprise of trained surveyors, both men and women. For data management and analysis, we have experienced Statisticians on board supported by a back end team of data entry operators As part of our work, we have designed and conducted numerous qualitative and quantitative research studies that employed a wide range of data collection tools particularly, questionnaires and surveys, online surveys, FGDs and Key Informant Interviews, Score Cards and Observation Performas etc. Some of our recent research work includes:

Surveys: We have conducted numerous surveys based on questionnaires for


diverse groups. Our recent work has included a primary research based on a survey conducted in 18 districts across Pakistan for British Council. Titled, Active Citizenship and Youth in Pakistan A Survey Report, the survey was conducted with a sample size of 575 respondents representing youth from ages 18 to 35 across Pakistan. The survey gathered information on demographics, psychographics and perceptions of the target group vis--vis active citizenship.

Perception Surveys: VR had the opportunity to develop and conduct


perception surveys in the social context for its clients. A recent example includes a qualitative research study for British Council titled, Over to the Future: Thoughts and Perspectives of the Young in Pakistan. The study employed FGDs as the main research tool. Carried out for several districts in Punjab and Sindh provinces, the sample included over 60 young men and women.

Qualitative Research: VR has conducted numerous Evaluation and Impact


Assessment Studies for a wide range of programs and clients. The studies have employed a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Some examples include Eliminating Bonded Labour in Pakistan ILO,

Football for Hope an EOP Review Study for ILO , Fostering Child Development through Enlightened Education, EOP Evaluation for British High Commission Save the Children UK, Rekindling Hopes, Rebuilding Lives, EOP Evaluation for CRS Pakistans Flood Response Program, Baluchistan.

Baseline Studies: VR has carried out numerous baseline studies covering a range of subjects for its client organizations. Recent studies include a baseline to determine existing knowledge and perception of target groups comprising of men in the age bracket of 18 30 years on the issue of illegal migration carried out as part of the evaluation of a media campaign designed by British High Commission. The study was carried out in 4 districts, 2 each in Punjab and AJK. The qualitative survey covered a sample of 603 respondents. The qualitative research included 32 Focus Group Discussions with 367 participants in the target districts as well as over a dozen interviews with key stakeholders in the govt. and non govt. sector. VR has also recently concluded a baseline study for the Active Citizens Program for the British Council focusing on the capacity building & training component and the policy dialogue strand. The study had an extended coverage of 9 districts in the 4 provinces and AJK.

Mapping Exercises: VR has recently completed a Community Mapping study for British Council that aimed at profiling 16 districts across Pakistan. The study was based on a map consisting of 22-point questionnaire. The sample size for the survey was 944 individuals across the 16 districts. The qualitative aspect of the research covered 30 FGDs with 380 participants.

Needs Identification Studies: As part of a research undertaking, VR


recently concluded a needs identification study focusing on AL/NFE provision in 52 villages of District Vehari for Plan Pakistan. The total sample size was 702 households in the target villages.

Policy Mapping: VR contributed a paper on policy mapping focusing


education and youth policies in the last 15 years for Pakistan: The

Next Generation, a research report by British Council focusing on the phenomenon of the demographic dividend in Pakistan. Case Studies Development: VR has compiled a booklet of case studies for Voluntary Services verseas VSO, titled From Marginalization to Mobilization: Lessons from Youth Volunteerism in Pakistan. The study presents authentic research and a fresh perspective on a topic which remains under-researched and un-addressed in the policy context.
