Nigeria culture both business and social is heavily influenced by its politics.

There are three major cultures in Nigeria which are Igbo Culture, Yoruba Culture and Hausa Culture. Igbos are located in the South-East part of Nigeria. Most of the families survive through subsistence of agricultural. Besides farming, the Ibos are known for their astuteness in trading business. When you talk about business in Nigeria, then it is referred to mostly the Ibo tribe as they are very versatile in trade. There are five cultural dimension of Hofstede which included power distance, individualism versus collectivism, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance index and long-term orientation versus short-term orientation. Power distance is the extent to which the less powerful members of organization and institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally. The represents inequality, but defined from below, not from above. It suggests that a society's level of inequality is endorsed by the followers as much as by the leaders. Power and inequality, of course, are extremely fundamental facts of any society and anybody with some international experience will be aware that 'all societies are unequal, but some are more unequal than others'. In Nigeria, power distance is higher than in United State. (Advameg, 2011) Furthermore, individualism versus collectivism, collectivism can be describes as the degree which the individuals are integrated into groups. On the other hand, individualist side we find societies in which the ties between individuals are loose. Everyone is expected to look after him/herself immediate family. While, collectivist is those people from birth onwards are integrated into strong, cohesive in-groups, often extended families which continue protecting them in exchange for unquestioning loyalty. Nigeria culture is more towards collectivism. They stay among their groups. Meanwhile, in United State, employee usually practices individualism rather than collectivism. (Geert Hofstede - itim , 2009) Masculinity versus femininity can be defined as distribution roles between genders which is another fundamental issue. Masculinity and femininity can be revealed that ; womens values differ less among societies than mens value ; mens value from one country to another country contain a dimension from very assertive and competitive and maximally different from women's values on the one side, to modest and caring and similar to women's values on the other. Some countries still have a gap between mens value and womens values. Higher masculinity in United State compare to Nigeria, this is because the gap between mens value and womens value in Nigeria is still very huge. (Geert Hofstede - itim , 2009) Uncertainty Avoidance index deals with a society's tolerance for uncertainty and ambiguity; it ultimately refers to man's search for Truth. It indicates to what extent a culture programs its members to feel either uncomfortable or comfortable in unstructured situations. Unstructured situations are novel, unknown, surprising, and different from

usual. Uncertainty avoiding cultures try to minimize the possibility of such situations by strict laws and rules, safety and security measures, and on the philosophical and religious level by a belief in absolute Truth; 'there can only be one Truth and we have it'. People in uncertainty avoiding countries are also more emotional, and motivated by inner nervous energy. The opposite type, uncertainty accepting cultures, are more tolerant of opinions different from what they are used to; they try to have as few rules as possible, and on the philosophical and religious level they are relativist and allow many currents to flow side by side. People within these cultures are more phlegmatic and contemplative, and not expected by their environment to express emotions. Higher uncertainty avoidance in Nigeria culture compare to United State. (ClearlyCultural.com, 2009) Long-term orientation versus short term orientation can be said to deal with Virtue regardless of Truth. Values of long-term orientation are thrift and perseverance on the other hand, values of short-term orientation are respect for tradition, fulfilling social obligations and protecting someones face.
