Stage 1 Identify Desired Results


Content Standards: National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T 2008) Standard 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers: a. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. b. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. c. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. d. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments. Standard 2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETSS. Teachers: a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. Standard 3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers: b. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats.

Participants will be able to: identify and use Workspace (Interwrite Boards and Pads) tools to engage students and content. review various instructional applications of Workspace tools.

Where can you locate the Workspace tools? What is the curtain icon for on the toolbar? What can the spotlight be used for? Where is the timer located?

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge
Participants will know: key termscurtain, toolbar, cursor, resize, spotlight, timer page toolsblank page, grid page, and calendar page annotation tools, editing tools, multimedia tools, presentation tools the differences between each tool.

Skills
Participants will be able to: identify and use the Workspace toolbar to engage students and content. use the Interwrite board and/or pad more effectively. create interactive and engaging lessons for their students.

Stage 2 Determine Acceptable Evidence


Performance Task
Participants will complete the Instructional Application Sheet where they will create a new idea for each category.

Other Evidence
(e.g. tests, quizzes, work samples, observations) Graphic Organizer: Instructional Application Sheet The participants will complete an Instructional Application graphic organizer for each of the discussed tools in instruction. Participants will create (come up with) one new idea for each tool. Facet Explanation/Interpretation/ Application Teacher Observation: The participants will participate in group discussions and activities. Facet Interpretation/Application/ Empathy/Explanation Participant Evaluation: Participants will reflect upon the training session by completing a survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YDDY RBC to improve the training session for

Stage 3 Learning Activities


Materials: module training worksheet, computer with Interwrite installed, projector, Interwrite board or screen with pad, Your Turn Sheet, Interwrite Workspace v.8.0 Beginning packet Vocabulary: curtain, toolbar, cursor, resize, spotlight, timer, page toolsblank page, grid page, and calendar page, annotation tools, editing tools, multimedia tools, presentation tools Learning Activities Engaging Content with Learners (Teachers will need to bring their own laptops to this session in order to work in the Interwrite program.) (Where, What) Begin the training by showing Trapped on an Escalator, and then discussing as a group whether or not they feel the way these people are feeling and how I can help, when it comes to using their Interwrite boards or pads. (Hook/Hold) Pass out the Engaging Content with Learners workbook. Talk a bit about the NETS - T standards that using eInstruction Interwrite could address. (Where, What) Show the workspace and toolbar for the Interwrite board and/or pad. (What) Explain that the curtain allows you to hide what you dont want students to see. The curtain is resizable, movable, and can be made transparent. (Equip) Go to a document or page within Interwrite and show the participants how to use the curtain feature within the page. (Equip) Complete similar step-by-step instructions for using the spotlight and timer features with Interwrite. (Equip) Participants will complete the Instructional Application sheet in small groups with their grade levels. (Equip, Tailor, Revise) After completing the sheet, as a whole group, we will discuss each small groups new ideas for use with the discussed tools. (Equip, Tailor, Revise) During the session, the participants will be able to ask questions. (Rethink, Revise) Participants will be complete a short survey at the end of the session in order to offer suggestions for improvements on future sessions using the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YDDYRBC (Evaluate) The link to the online module/tutorial will be given to each participant and those participants that were unable to attend the training session. (Equip, Organize, Revise, Rethink)
