and the California Occupational Safety & Health Agency (Cal-OSHA)

WHAT: Orange County’s first-ever townhall that brings together the Vietnamese nail salon stakeholders and
state agencies that regulate the industry to discuss relevant health and safety, education and
compliance issues, and agencies’ respective inspection, citation and appeal process, and ways to
help the stakeholders better comply with relevant rules and regulations. The townhall will include
testimony from nail salon owners and workers and presentations from BBC, Cal-OSHA, California
Labor Commission and the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative. Translation will be
available in English and Vietnamese.

WHEN: Sunday, October 5, 2008, 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.

WHERE: Coastline Community College, Le-Jao Center

WHY: To engage BBC, Cal-OSHA and California Labor Commission around ways to improve the
regulatory process, such as expanding language access for the majority Vietnamese worker
population and implementing appropriate policies that protect the health and safety of the nail salon
workers and to inform the nail salon community about important health and safety information
based on growing concerns that nail care products contain many toxic and carcinogenic chemicals.
