Our religion preaches brotherhood, tolerance and harmony for the establishment of a society, which respects rights of all the segments of the society, he said.

Islam is the solution for the problems of Muslims, he said, warning the faithful o f a media and cultural invasion that seeks to weaken (their) faith. The top cleric urged Muslims to solve their problems without interference from th eir enemies, condemning those who want to provoke hostility between you and your l eaders. More than two million Muslims gathered on Saturday on Mount Arafat and its surro unding plain, marking the peak day of Hajj. There were no immediate reports of major incidents as security officials focused on crowd control. Things are going well and according to plan, interior ministry spokesman General M ansur al Turki told AFP. Many went on buses, while others set off on foot from Mina, a tent-village that comes to life only during the five-day pilgrimage. Others took the Mashair Railway, also known as the Makkah Metro, to go to Mount Arafat and its surrounding plains, where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) delivered his f inal sermon. Mukhtar al Rahman, who is more than 100 years of age, said this is the dream of m y life which took a century to come true. The crowds have tired me and as you can see I cant stand properly because of the h uge crowds flooding into the area, the elderly Bengali said panting as he looked for a small chair to sit on. Indonesian pilgrim Noor Laila said: Im so happy to have set foot on Arafats sacred soil. I want to wash away all my sins and ask God to forgive my mistakes. This is the f irst time I come to Hajj and I hope it wont be the last, said the 36-year-old. Malaysian Abdullah Wali al-Deen, 45, said he had been working for years for this day. I came here with my family after we managed to save enough money, he said. Ev eryone in here is equal. There are no differences between various nationalities. This is the religion of peace, love and brotherhood. More than 1.83 million pilgrims have arrived in the kingdom from abroad, marking a 1.5 per cent increase from last year, said Makkah Governor Prince Khaled al F aisal. http://tribune.com.pk/story/288106/muslims-gather-on-arafat-for-peak-hajj-day/ ------Deoband issues fatwa against birthday celebrations Sun Nov 06 2011, Muzaffarnagar: Muslims should not follow the tradition of western culture, says Maulana Abul Ka sim Naumani. However, two of the accused will not be released from prison as they are accused in the 7/11 train bomb blast case as well. While the investigating agency did n ot oppose their bail plea, it did not dismiss any of the charges slapped on them either. All the nine accused have been in prison for the past five years. The Anti-Terro rism Squad (ATS), which investigated the case initially, had claimed that many o f the arrested accused were members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). Even the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which later took o ver the investigation, took the same line. It was only after the former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist Swami Aseemana nd s confession about the alleged involvement of right-wing Hindu fundamentalist s in the 2006 Malegaon blast was leaked did the line of investigation change. Th e NIA took over the investigation on March 22, 2011. During the course of further investigation, the NIA, after the revelation of Swam i Aseemanand, arrested in Mecca Masjid bomb blast case, reviewed the collected e vidence and collected fresh evidence in the form of statements and forensic repo rts. Further investigation is in progress, the NIA stated in its reply submitted

before the court on Saturday. The seven accused were granted bail on a solvent surety of Rs.50,000 each, but w ill be allowed to walk free on Wednesday, subsequent only to the completion of o fficial procedures. Family members of the accused thanked Swami Aseemanand for h is confession, which led to the release of their kin. Aseemanand s confession led to a change in things. This is the result of the good wishes of all the people. It is my appeal to people that they should take recourse to law. Sooner or late r, they will definitely get justice, an overwhelmed Jameel Masiullah, brother of the accused Shabbir Ahmed Masiullah, told The Hindu . I remember Swami Aseemanand this day. It was the voice of his conscience that mad e him confess. If not for him, our boys would still have been languishing in pri son. This has clearly stated the innocence of our boys, said Maulana Mustaqeem Az mi, president of Jamait Ulema-e-Maharashtra. We will come back after Eid and then complete the procedures. All of them will be free on Wednesday. That is when al l their family members too will come here to meet them, said Irfana Hamdani, an a dvocate from Malegaon. The residents of Malegaon who had come to the court to attend the proceedings di stributed sweets outside the court, jubilant over the outcome. They described it as a happy day and said the decision had strengthened their faith in the Indian judiciary. They said they would approach even the Supreme Court, if need be, to prove the i nnocence of these seven persons. Malegaon has already started celebrating Eid. Today is our Eid. People have alrea dy started bursting fire-crackers there since afternoon, Ms. Hamdani said. The process of granting justice has started, but it is not complete. It will be c omplete when they are declared innocent by the court. The local police had chang ed the direction of investigation. Even the ATS kept arresting people. It filed a false charge sheet and the CBI toed that line of investigation. The accused wi llingly consented to brain mapping and lie detection tests. They said they were willing to undergo even the narco-analysis test. We are thankful to the NIA that they did not oppose bail, advocate Jaleel Ahmed, who is also the brother of an a ccused Abrar Ahmed, told The Hindu . http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/article2602667.ece ------India says positive indicators from Pakistan Sep 16 2011, SANDEEP DIKSHIT Ahead of the Manmohan Singh-Yusuf Raza Gilani meeting next Friday in the Maldive s, India said there had been some positive indicators emanating from Islamabad. Briefing journalists on the two-day South Asian Association for Regional Coopera tion (SAARC) summit on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai cited the quick return of the military helicopter that had strayed into Pakistani territory, th e in-principle decision by Pakistan to give most favoured nation (MFN) status to India and the visit of a Pakistani Judicial Commission to Mumbai. This will be the third prime ministerial meeting after Dr. Singh and Mr. Gilani met in Thimphu last year, on the margins of the SAARC summit, leading to the res

umption of dialogue on several issues. They met later in Mohali on March 30 duri ng the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup semi-final. The Maldives engagement comes just at the head of the start of the second round of the resumed dialogue process. Agenda All issues in bilateral relations will be discussed, Mr. Mathai said about the age nda for the meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC summit, with the intention bei ng to predicate India-Pakistan bilateral ties on a more stable and normal basis. Pointing out that India-Pakistan ties should be such that minor incidents do not derail the overall trend towards a more cooperative and constructive relationsh ip, Mr. Mathai said: The issue of trading is one on which we have been holding ou t the hand of cooperation to Pakistan. Asked about the tendency of India-Pakistan bilaterals overshadowing SAARC meets, a trend that was commented upon by the coming SAARC summit host and President o f the Maldives Mohd. Nasheed in Thimphu, Mr. Mathai threw the ball in the media s court. Big ticket event The question is, who makes it a big ticket event? I think I am looking at those r esponsible for that. So, I leave it to you to introduce a sense of balance. We a re meeting as eight sovereign countries who are all equals [sic] in the SAARC fr amework, and certainly we would like the focus to remain essentially on the comm on business of SAARC. Vital relations And once we get beyond the common business of SAARC we have vital relations with all these countries. And certainly some of them have very substantive business w ith each other. So, we would certainly hope that the focus will not be diverted to one single event, he replied. http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/article2602665.ece ------No going back on MFN to India, says Gilani Sep 16 2011, With the Pakistani media maintaining that the government was wavering on its dec ision to grant India the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Saturday stepped in to clear the air and categorically say the Commerce Ministry had been authorise d to normalise bilateral trade. Pakistan rejects reports of nuclear insecurity By Reuters November 6, 2011 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday dismissed an article in a US magazine that called it an ally from hell for Washington and raised questions about the safety of its n uclear arsenal and commitment to fighting militancy. The surfacing of such campaigns is not something new. It is orchestrated by quart ers that are inimical to Pakistan, the statement said.
