The main components of the RVKunit are two hollow rectangular steel tubes, where the smallest tube is sliding within the other, and is accessible from the surface of the concrete. The RVKunits are in particular designedtoconnectprecaststairsandlandingstothewallsintheshafts. With slab thicknesses ranging from 150175mm the local capacity due to punching shear are normally less than the ultimate load limit for the RVK40. Thus, if no special shear reinforcement is prescribed, it is not recommendedtotakeadvantageofthesteelunitcapacity.LinearreductionindesignloadaccordingtoFigure 2issuggested. With slab thicknesses ranging from 200265mm the local capacity due to punching shear are normally less than the ultimate load limit for the RVK100.
