CONNECTION

1.) Connect the RS-232 to PORT A on the MOTHER P.C.B. of the N.C. Rack. This is located behind the front door of the control cabinet. See Fig. 1.

2.) RS-232 Pin configuration of PORT A as follows. Pin 1 = FG = Field Ground Pin 2 = SD = Send Data Pin 3 = RD = Receive Data Pin 4 = RTS = Request to Send Pin 5 = CTS = Clear to Send Pin 6 = DSR = Data Set Ready Pin 7 = SG = Signal Ground Pin 20 = DTR = Data Terminal Ready *NOTE: You must configure RS-232 terminal to match your system.

OPERATION 3.) Select MECH FILE, Then set UP/DOWN LOAD information the same as your system. A.) 0 : 0 = OFF, 1 = TTY(ASCII), 2 = ISO, 3 = ASCII Select the number the that corresponds to the CODE that you are using. B.) 8 : CHARACTER Select 7 or 8 DATA BITS. Normally at 8. Select whether you want to UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD. 0 = DOWNLOAD from your system to NC CONTROL 1 = UPLOAD from NC CONTROL to your system. Make sure operation starts. *NOTE: OFF KEY will stop operation. ESC KEY will clear the 0 = READ 1 = WRITE comment.

Connection & Operation Of RS-232 Option For Mark 3, Mark 5, Mark 7, 6031, Mark 62, GO-40, & GW-40 Controls

Connection 1.) Connect your RS-232 cable from your system to the RS-232 connector on the control. See Fig. 1. If you do not have this connector on your machine, then go to step 3.

2.) RS-232 Pin configuration of RS-232 connector as follow. Pin 1 = FG = Field Ground Pin 2 = SD = Send Data Pin 3 = RD = Receive Data Pin 4 = RTS = Request to Send Pin 5 = CTS = Clear to Send

Pin 6 = DSR = Data Set Ready Pin 7 = SG = Signal Ground Pin 20 = DTR = Data Terminal Ready *NOTE: You must configure RS-232 terminal to match your system. 3.) If your control is missing the RS-232 connector as shown in Fig. 1, then you must provide it from the SBC set. 4.) Remove the lower panel from the front of the control, this will give you access to the N.C. rack which is where the SBC set is contained. See Fig. 2.

5.) The RS-232 port is located on the 86/05 board of the SBC set. There are two different types of connectors that can be used on the 86/05 board, a Card Edge type as shown in Fig. 3, and a DIN type as shown in Fig. 4.

6.) For the Card Edge type of connector as shown in Fig. 3, the configuration is as follows. 7.) For the DIN type connector as shown in Fig. 4, the configuration is as follows. *NOTE: The Arrow on the DIN connector designates Pin 1. 8.) If your 86/05 card uses the Card Edge type connector, Pin 1 will be located at the top of the card. See Fig. 5.

9.) If your 86/05 card uses the DIN style connector, the plug is keyed, and can only connect one way. 10.) The other end of the cable will connect to a DB-25 style connector using the following pin configuration.

Connection & Operation Of RS-232 Option For Mark EX, Mark 11, EX-21, Mark 21 & Mark 25 Controls

1.) Connect your system to the RS-232 connector on the N.C. Control. For Mark EX and EX-21 Controls, the RS-232 connector is located behind the acrylic door, below the keyboard. For the Mark 11 and Mark 21 Controls, the RS-232 connector is located on the left hand side of the control, and for the Mark 11 and Mark 21 pendant type, the RS-232 connector is located on the back side of the pendant control. For the Mark 25 Control, the RS-232 connector is located on the back side of the control head. 2.) RS-232 Pin configuration of RS-232 connector as follow. Pin 1 = FG = Field Ground Pin 2 = SD = Send Data Pin 3 = RD = Receive Data Pin 4 = RTS = Request to Send Pin 5 = CTS = Clear to Send Pin 6 = DSR = Data Set Ready Pin 7 = SG = Signal Ground Pin 20 = DTR = Data Terminal Ready *NOTE: You must configure RS-232 terminal to match your system.

3.) Setup the N.C control to match your system. For the Mark EX and Mark 11 controls, you can access the serial information as follows; DIAG MACHINE SERIAL SCREEN. For the EX-21, Mark 21 and Mark 25 controls, you can access the serial information as follows; SET SERIAL SCREEN.
