Four (4) players from each union team that participated in the B Section of the 2011 SA Inter Provincial Tournament, as nominated by the union; 5.5 All current national players; 5.6 All international players invited by the SAGA; 5.7 Four (4) junior golfers as determined by the SAGA; 5.8 Other entrants as determined by the SAGA; 5.9 Four (4) players from the Presidents Team that competed in the 2011 Challenge Cup, as nominated by the SAGA; 5.10 Top fifty (50) players on the SAGA Player Rankings (Aged Points Performances) as at 31st December 2011; 5.11 Top two (2) players on the Karoo Golf Union Order of Merit as at 31st December 2011.
8. Dress Code
The wearing of shorts or collarless shirts by competitors whilst competing in the Championship, which includes all Regional Qualifying Rounds and official practice rounds, is not permitted.
9. Registration
Competitors must register with the SAGA at Mowbray Golf Club between the hours of 06h30 and 14h00 on Saturday prior to the commencement of the Championship. Failure to register within the prescribed time period will result in the player being removed from the Qualifying Draw (see 1.1) unless mitigating circumstances can be proven.
10. Practice
10.1 It is the players responsibility to make his own arrangements with the venue for any practice rounds prior to Saturday 25th February 2012 (this applies to the Regional Qualifying Rounds as well). To book a practice round at Mowbray Golf Club the player must call 041 583 2137. 10.2 The official Championship practice round is Saturday (whole day) prior to the commencement of the Championship. To book a practice time please contact the SAGA offices on 011 476 1713, during office hours (09h00 to 16h00) from Monday 13th February 2012. 10.3. All official practice times will be allocated on a first come first served basis and are open for players participating in the Championship only. The time sheet will be updated regularly on www.saga.co.za; 10.4.Each player is responsible for making his own practice time booking (no player will be entitled to book a place for another player or a fourball which he can fill at his discretion).
11. Caddies
Outside caddies are permitted but are required to register with the club prior to the tournament. Caddies are required to present their ID books to gain access the clubs premises. Reimbursement of caddies is by agreement between both parties.
7. Rules of Golf
The Championship and its Regional Qualifying Rounds will be held in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd, the SAGAs Permanent Local Rules (Hard Card) and Additional Local Rules approved by the SAGA. Copies of the Additional Local Rules are available from the SAGA at the Championship venue and from the party responsible for the staging of each Regional Qualifying Round. All entrants are advised to familiarize themselves with these Additional Local Rules.

To be played over the course of the Mowbray Golf Club INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
1. Sanlam SA Amateur Championship (Championship)
This will be played from Sunday 26th February 2012 to Friday the 2nd of March 2012 as follows: 1.1 Qualifying 1.1.1 36 holes qualifying stroke play, for all competitors, of which 18 holes will be played on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday; 1.1.2 The 64 leading players will qualify to play in the Match Play stages. In the event of ties for the 64th place, the Match Play field will be decided by a hole by hole play off involving those players who are tied; 1.1.3 The winner of the qualifying stroke play shall hold the Proudfoot Trophy (a floating trophy) until the next Championship and he shall receive a silver medal. The runner up will receive a bronze medal; 1.1.4 In the event of a tie for first place, there shall be a hole by hole playoff, over holes as determined by the South African Golf Association (SAGA), to determine the winner; 1.1.5 In the event of a tie for runner up, the bronze medal will be awarded to the best score over the last 18 holes, failing that the last 9 holes of the final round, failing that in such manner as the SAGA may determine that shall resolve the tie. 1.2 Match Play 1.2.1 The Match Play stages shall consist of 18 holes on Tuesday, 18 holes in the morning and afternoon of Wednesday and Thursday respectively and the final, over 36 holes, on Friday. In the event of a match being all square at the end of the stipulated number of holes, play will continue until either player wins a hole; 1.2.2 The winner shall hold the Floating Trophy until the next Championship and receive a gold medal, the runner-up shall receive a silver medal and the semi finalists bronze medals each. 2.4 Completed entry forms must reach either the SAGA office before entries close (see 2.2 above), this includes all mailed entries; All information required in the entry form must be provided accurately, legibly and in full. When submitting the entry form the entry fee or proof of payment must accompany the entry form for the players entry form to be accepted. Bank Details are: Standard Bank, Bramley, #001797573 The reference on the proof of payment must state the tournament name Sanlam SA Amateur 2.5 Cheques etc., to be made payable to the South African Golf Association; 2.6 The onus is on the player to ensure that his entry has been received by the SAGA as prescribed in these Conditions. Should a player require an acknowledgement of his entry, a stamped, self addressed envelope must be enclosed with the entry form submitted; 2.7 The Players Declaration, on the entry form, must be signed by the player and verified by the Secretary or Executive Member of the players Provincial Union or an SAGA Executive Member. In the case of a player resident outside South Africa the entry form must be verified by the players National Union; 2.8 No telephonic, facsimile, telegraphic or priority mail entries will be accepted; 2.9 On no account will the entry fee be refunded unless a player withdraws prior to the closing date and time for entries; 2.10 All entries shall be subject to the approval of the SAGA who reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving reason. The decision of the SAGA as to the acceptance or refusal of any entry shall be final.

3. Eligibility
The Championship is open to any amateur who is a Life, Full or Junior member of a golf club affiliated to a Union recognized by the SAGA and who, at the time of submitting his entry, shall have a handicap of four or less, assessed in terms of the SAGA Course Rating and Handicapping System, or an equivalent handicap assessed under an alternative system acceptable to the SAGA.

5. Exemption Categories
In the event of the SAGA receiving more than 144 entries, then the following players will be granted exemption from having to participate in Regional Qualifying Rounds: 5.1 All past champions; 5.2 Top 64 players from the 2011 Sanlam SA Amateur Championship; 5.3 All players who participated in the A Section of the 2011 SA Inter Provincial Tournament;
