Attention! When fitting the daughter board onto the basic board, care must be taken that it is positioned correctly, otherwise both of the boards could be damaged. After configuration the combinations should be noted on the lable which is located on the rear surface of the card so that the card details can be identified. When the joined cards are initially switched on the data store (EEPROM), is reprogrammed, this takes approx. 1.5 mins. and is indicated by the flashing LEDs "select 1, 2, 4, 8". Communication with the amplifier card during this time is not possible.

RE 30 123/11.97

Functional description
The amplifier card is designed as a double sided printed circuit board of Euroformat 100 x 160 mm with a built-on daughter board. The basis board corresponds to the digital command value card VT-SWKD-1-1X (see RE 30 121). With the VT-TSPD-1-1X daughter board fitted the card is converted into an amplifier for proportional valves without electrical position feedback. The amplifier has a switched mode power supply which provides all of the necessary internal voltages [4]. The central unit of the amplifier forms a micro-controller that controls the entire sequence as well as the control of the current. Card specific data (configuration, command values, parameters) is stored nonvolatile in an EEPROM [5]. Four binary coded digital inputs are used to call-up parameter sets (command values) from the memory, in which a maximum of 16 sets can be stored. A call-up activates the current command value with the associated ramp times and the parameters for the sequence control, that is if these are activated. Further control inputs have the following functions: "Command valid": Enable of the parameter set via the actual call-up and isolating the sequence control (H-active) "Ramp": Activation of the ramp generator (H-active) "Enable": Activation of the outputs (L/H edges or H-active) Note: H-active = High-active (level 15 V to UB) L-active = Low-active (level 0 to 2 V) L/H edge = LowHigh edge The amplifier card has two current regulators for the control of the solenoid currents of a proportional valve. The command value can be applied by digital command value callups and/or via analogue inputs. The analogue intput E1 (b14/16) [1] is used for command values of 10 V, 20 mA or 0 to 20 mA, the analogue input E6 (b22/b24) [2] for command values of 4 to 20 mA. Input E1 is configured by the Hardware (jumper for switching to current/voltage) and via Software (selection of the current interface). The digital command value is added to the analogue command value dependent on its pre-fix. The command value input can be varied via an input adjustment of the gain and corrected in the offset [12]. The command value sum is passed to a ramp generator [13], that can optionally be configured for seperated acceleration and deceleration ramps or as an S-ramp. A positive command value results in a current increase at solenoid "b"; a negative command value results in a current increase at solenoid"a". The characteristic curve generator [14] carries out the matching of the command value to the selected valve. The characteristic curve generator [14] and the clock generator [11] are automatically programmed during valve selection, this is valid for all of the Rexroth valves. To be able to freely select a valve, it is possible to freely programme the characteristic curve generator and the clock generator ("user defined"). The matched command value is made available at measurement socket 3 and the blade connector (connection d32) as an "internal command value". Monitoring of the digital inputs, the control of both of the switched outputs, the fault output [8] as well as all of the internal functions is carried out via a control logic [15]. Sequence control As an option it is possible to activate a sequence control, which automatically calls-up command values to programmable times and in a programmable sequence. The signal "command valid" has to be set to inactive (L-level), otherwise the command value call-ups via the inputs "command call-up1, 2, 4, 8" have priority. Enable and fault messages Dependent on the configuration of the enable input the control is activated by a L/H edge or an H-level at the enable input. If no command value call-up is active then the digital call-up 0 is set. An error logic recognises a control deviation, a cable break at the command value input for 4 to 20 mA and an inactive enable. In the case of a fault a failure message (opened relay contact [8]) is sent and is optically displayed by the LED "error" on the front plate. The LEDs "select 1, 2, 4, 8" show in the case of a fault an error code. It is possible to so configure the enable that an inactive enable input is not displayed as a fault.

Programming and diagnosics The selection of the valve which is to be controlled, as well as the selection and configuration of the command value input, the ramp generator, the enable input, the activation of the sequence control as well as the command value parameters is carried out via the serial interface [6], the MDSM plug [7] which is located at the front or via the blade connector using the PC-Software BODIV (SYS-DIGVEN-BODIV-01), the operator panel BF-1 (VT 12 323) or the operators box BB-3 (VT 12 321).

Display elements and measurement sockets The front plate of the command value card is fitted with measurement sockets for the internal command value and the solenoid currents. Measurement socket "1": not allocated Measurement socket "2": not allocated Measurement socket "3": internal command value Measurement socket "4": not allocated Measurement socket "Ia": current solenoid "a" (1 V 1A) Measurement socket "Ib": current solenoid "b" (1 V 1A) Measurement socket "GND": reference potential (corresponds to connection z32) The following conditions are displayed by the LEDs: LED "power" (green): internal power supply LED "error" (red): fault message LED "start" (yellow): enable of the amplifier card LEDs "select 1, 2, 4, 8" (yellow): actual command value call-up / error code for an active fault [ ] = cross reference to the block circuit diagram on page 4

Project / maintenance guidelines / additional information

The amplifier card must only be plugged in or removed when the power source is disconnected! When connecting the solenoids plugs fitted with free wheel diodes or LED displays must not be used! Measurements at the card must only be taken with instruments having Ri > 100 k! Use relays with gold plated contacts for switching command values (extra low voltages, extra low currents)! Always lay command value cables separately and with a screen; fit the screen on the card side to connection z10, the other end is to be left open (danger of earth loops)! For solenoid cables up to 50 meters long use cable type LiYCY 1.5 mm 2. For longer lengths, please consult us! Recommendation: Also screen the solenoid cables! For connecting the system earth use a highly flexible Cu-conductor (min. 2.5 mm2)! The system earth is an integral component of the amplifier EMC protection. This is where influences that come from the data and supply cables are diverted. This is only possible when the system earth itself does not cause any disturbances in the command value card. The distance to antenna cables, transmitters and radar systems must be at least 1 meter! Do not lay solenoid and signal cables in the vicinity of power cables! Due to the charging current of the smoothing capasitor on the card, the back-up fuses must be of the slow blowing type! Attention: When using the differential input, both inputs must be switched on or off simultaneously! If stored VT 12340 amplifier data sets are to be further used, then by using the communication programme BODIV (from version 1.5) it is possible to carry out a conversion of the data (in menu point convert data set). VT 12340 data sets that are stored in the operator box BB-3, can not be transferred into the VT-VSPD amplifier! Note: Electrical signals generated via control electronics (e.g. signal "fault message") must not be used for switching safety-relevant machine functions! (See also the European standard "Safety requirements for fluid power systems and components hydraulics", prEN 982)
