Forecast Details
Rest of Today/Tonight: Strong low pressure aloft will lift into the TX panhandle while colder air spills in from the north (especially in the eastern plains of NM). Snow will remain fairly widespread, continuing to tally up significant accumulations.

Cold temperatures tonight. Significant snow continuing this afternoon and into tonight.
Snowfall Accumulations
Tuesday: Current storm system lifts northeastward while a new disturbance develops over the upper Gulf of California. A few stray showers in central to western zones of NM. Below normal temperatures continuing.
Wednesday: Weak low pressure system lifts northeast into NM, only bringing isolated and generally light showers to central and western parts of the state. New disturbance aloft moves southeastward into Idaho and Utah.
Thursday: New upper level disturbance arrives from the northwest, bringing increased valley rain and mountain snow showers. Precipitation will favor the northern half of the state.
Friday: Low pressure system exits to the northeast. Drier northwest flow will persist along with below normal temperatures. Any showers should be confined to the northern mountains of NM.
Saturday and Sunday: The relatively dry northwest flow aloft will persist into the upcoming holiday weekend. Precipitation chances will be minimal to none. Temperatures stay 10 to 20 degrees below seasonal averages. Slim odds for a White Christmas.
