TABLE OF CONTENTS
HELPFUL INFORMATION
Camps and programs are organized first by their DURATION or LENGTH (i.e. 5-day, then 4-day or less). Both full-day and partial-day camps are grouped together, and arranged chronologically by start date. Camps and programs are then grouped by their TYPE or SUBJECT/CONTENT: e.g. Golf, Ice Skating, Inline Skating, Skateboarding, Outdoor Fun, and Tennis, then all our Nature, Science & Outdoor Adventure Camps. Within the camp TYPE sections, camps and programs are then organized in chronological order by their START DATE, and then by their AGE group (youngest to oldest). Montgomery Parks encourages and supports the participation of individuals with disabilities. In order to make reasonable accommodations based on individuals needs and abilities, please register at least two weeks in advance of the program start date, and request accommodation at that time.

FIELD STUDY FOR ADULTS

Dragonflies for Beginners
Ancient dragonflies (Protodonata) were here before the dinosaurs, with fossils dated from over 325 million years ago. These flying predatory insects had wingspans up to 2 feet wide! Dragonflies have captured the imagination of people throughout human history, and appear in the art and mythology of American Indians as well as many other cultures. In this course, well identify local dragonflies and learn their natural history, folklore and mythology. Well visit and take short, easy walks at several natural and man-made wetland habitats in Wheaton Regional Park, as well as other county parks. The weather may be hot, so well move at a naturalists pace, with ample time for observation and photography. Registration fee includes instruction, van transportation, dragonfly field guide, magnifying lens, and resource notebook. Meet at Brookside Gardens each day; a detailed itinerary will be sent in advance to each registrant. Naturalist: Denise Gibbs. Rain dates: Thursday, July 26 and Friday, July 27.
