hile Minnedosa is
often referred to as
a hockey town we are also
fortunate to be home to
one of the provinces best
downhill ski areas, Ski Val-
ley. Te 2011-12 ski sea-
son opened last weekend
for the many skiers and
snowboarders who have
been anxiously awaiting
the opportunity to hit the
slopes once again.
Tis past Monday and
Wednesday, Ski Valley
welcomed Grade 7 and
8 students from Tanners
Crossing School for some
downhill winter ftness
before Christmas break.
For many of the students,
this was their introduc-
tion to downhill skiing or
snowboarding.
Skiing is a winter
sport which can be en-
joyed by all age groups.
Whether solo, partnered
or as a family or group,
many people spend a
great deal of time on the
slopes during the winter
months. Downhill skiing
and snowboarding is not
only an enjoyable winter
pastime, it also brings nu-
merous health and ftness
benefts for participants.
Now open for another
season, Ski Valley will be
closed Christmas Day but
will be open for regular
hours this season and will
open at 10 a.m. on New
Years Day.
