Abbreviated numbers
Abbreviated numbers are employed by users to reach external correspondents. In practice, users dial a simplified number on their set and the PBX automatically dials the corresponding external number (see Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 - Telephone facilities documentation). A table of 15,000 abbreviated numbers maximum can be created (0 to 14,999). These numbers are declared in different sections (0 to 399), used to define user access to abbreviated numbering from their operating category (management carried out by the installation technician). For each abbreviated number, up to 15 different aliases can be created. These aliases are the additional names used in the Call by name facility. A section can only contain the abbreviated numbers whose indexes are successive (e.g.: 101 to 150).
0 . . . 100 101 . . . . . . . . . . . . 150 . . . 14999

Abbreviated numbers section

A distinction must be made between the direct abbreviated numbers and the abbreviated numbers by section.

Direct abbreviated numbers

The user activates transmission of the number by dialling a prefix. All the direct abbreviated numbers are stored in the same single section, which is global as regards the network whose content is automatically distributed to all the nodes in this network. This section cannot overlap on the other abbreviated numbers by section sections.
Example: section of the first index 100 and of length 300

Abbreviated numbers by section

As a complement to the direct abbreviated numbering used by the entire network, abbreviated numbering by section is used to manage:

abbreviated numbers specific to the nodes, abbreviated numbers specific to the entities, across the network.

To send an abbreviated number, the user dials a prefix corresponding to the section followed by the order number in this section. The abbreviated numbers are contained in one or more sections, numbered from 0 to 399. If necessary, these sections can overlap and even be superposed.
Example: 200 abbreviated numbers are distributed in 3 sections with 1 section having 95 numbers, 1 section 10 numbers and 1 section 105 numbers.

On initialisation, the sections are empty. For each section created, a seize prefix (8 digits maximum) must be allocated.
Example: Prefix for section 1 = 11 Prefix for section 2 = 12 Prefix for section 3 = 13 The user with access to section 1 dials 1150 to reach the abbreviated number with index 50. The user with access to section 2 dials 12104 to reach the abbreviated number with index 199. The user with access to section 3 dials 139 to reach the abbreviated number with index 104.

If an ISDN access is planned in the installation, as well as the AUTOMATIC ATTENDANT option, all the abbreviated numbers by section offer correspondent identification on ISDN i/c, the i/c ISDN numbers being translated into a repertory names. A user called by a correspondent whose number is declared in abbreviated numbering will see the repertory name of this correspondent on the display of the set.

Directory name1
The repertory name can have a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

Directory First Name1

The repertory first name can have a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters. The repertory names and first names are displayed on reflex and digital sets equipped with displays, as well as on the attendant terminals.

Barring
If this parameter is validated, the content of the abbreviated number is subject to barring control according to the public network access category allocated to the caller.

Overfl.Dir.Abbrev.No Pref.
This information is supplied to validate the overflow when the o/g bundle is fully busy. Its content is equal to the prefix of a direct abbreviated number.

Auto.Attendant Calling Right

Complete this item with a number (0 to 31) corresponding to a category number defining the operating rights granted to the caller (priority, overflow possibility, access to voice mail, etc.) and entered by the installation technician. The value taken by default is equal to 0. This category, taken into account in the Automatic attendant facility, is used if the caller can be recognised by his ISDN identifier (the caller number must be contained in the abbreviated number).

Call Type
This item is used to define the type of call from the following:

Normal, VIP, Internal, IP, ISVPN.

This function is used on attendant terminals and sets to distinguish the ISDN i/c calls according to their importance.

Timed Forward.Dir.Abbrev.No.
Complete this item with the full abbreviated number prefix. If the initial open abbreviated number is not completed by the user before a time-out, the PBX automatically sends the call number corresponding to this overflow direct abbreviated number.
Example:

Prefix 3500 corresponds to number 0015566. Time delayed overflow number: 3501 Prefix 3501 corresponds to the external number 00155667000 (attendant).

The user dials prefix 3500. The PBX generates the number 0015566.

1. Entering the repertory name and first name is used to fill in the equivalent Call by name fields automatically. These fields have 12 characters only for the name and 8 characters only for the first name.

Principle: If the number requested is filtered and associated with a filtering index (by the system management), the call may arrive at a directory number (routing), provided that the number of the calling party user can be identified by an abbreviated number by section. If this is the case, the call is directed to a directory number entered in the item Routing number.

Public Network Category

Each category (0 to 31) of public network access provides the authorisations or barrings for i/e and o/g. The public network access category of the hunting group is independent of the category of the sets in this hunting group. These sets assume their own category on leaving the group.

Withdrawal Authorized
When True, this item allows the last set present in the hunting group to validate its own withdrawal provided its operating category allows this, even if the hunting group has no overflow repertory number. A call to a hunting group in which all the sets have withdrawn will be switched to the overflow repertory number if it exists or will not be routed (BT). Particularities

Allocation and capacity

Only the sets in service can be allocated to a hunting group. A set can only be allocated to a single hunting group. Each set in a hunting group can be called by its own specific repertory number.
Note: The main repertory number of a multiline set can belong to a hunting group (no restriction on the number of lines).

Row of the sets in the group

Each set in a group has a row position within the group. This row is used for the type of hunting managed and is allocated in line with the chronological order in which the set was allocated to the group. If a set is de-allocated, the program automatically modifies the rows of the remaining sets, while maintaining their initial order.
